my sig pics are just a couple of my T Shirt designs i drew up a while back. actually, I offered Camaro5 to make some t shirt designs for FREE (hows that for a troll!) a while back and there were no bites.

THANK YOU! It's not like the 5th Gen isn't a brand new car. It's not like the S197 hasn't been out since like 2005, so it SHOULD be easier to tune the suspension, and I think that's one of the keys that we haven't seen a huge amount of great times in relation to the mods' we're getting. These cars have barely been on the streets for more than a year and we're expecting 9s and 10s like they've been around for five years. Whatever...

so there arent suspension components available to the 5th gen f-bodies that would support the hp required to see consistent 11's?

i think i saw somewhere on here some guys questioning Fords decision to stick with the "outdated" live axle, but most of us Ford guys like 1/4 mile racing so it suites us just fine.

how is that IRS holding up in the Camaros? i never liked the IRS in the stang...most didnt, which is probably why they chose a solid axle for the GT500

I agree that the 5.0 is probably close to it's power threshold (from the factory at least, obviously aftermarket will make it even more powerful). I just can't knock good engineering as much as I don't like the Mustang!! I just like the engine to be honest.

One thing that has always bothered me is the BS numbers the magazines throw out for the Mustang. Perfect example from a couple years ago:

One year the Mustang had 300 hp (2007 or 2008, don't remember). 0-60 was 5.2 seconds claimed by the magazine.

The next year the Mustang had the upgraded Bullitt intake and made 315 hp (this was right around the time that the Camaro was coming out and being tested). 0-60 was now 4.9 seconds claimed by the magazine.

It didn't weigh any less than the previous year or anything. Both those times were with a 5 speed manual. Forget gearing because even if it did change it wasn't aggressive enough to cause a 0.3 second drop in 0-60 times!!

Now this new one, which weighs more than the previous year has a claimed 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds! At least they made significant power and transmission upgrades since the previous year but 4.3 still seems pretty outrageous. I don't believe a word the magazines say anymore, it all comes down to what they do at the track. I can't wait to run across a new 5.0 though

We all know how most people on this forum feel about Mustang's being as this is a Camaro forum. However his question isn't whether or not you like or hate Mustang's, he's asking for everyone's opinions about the 2011 Mustang, which has the most significant upgrades in power and drivetrain that the car has seen in years, maybe decades! It's definitely a valid question.

I think it's a big step up for Mustang's! Ford is doing a good job and I hope the competition continues!

It's funny you say that because it is so true. I don't care if the Camaro costs more or less, that's what I wanted so that's what I bought. But I hear it all the time from the magazines, to the bloggers, to the car owners, "But the Mustang costs $3k less and is almost just as quick!" (speaking from a couple years ago of course ). That didn't stop any of the Camaro fans from buying a Camaro because that's what they wanted!

P.S. The as tested price from that review was a Mustang given to them from Ford. They couldn't pick the options, so there were probably quite a few in the car. They compared it to the base price of the closest trim Camaro, that's why the Camaro was less. I believe the Mustang GT base price is still lower than the Camaro 1SS! I could be wrong though

There's nothing wrong with a little "friendly" competition. Remember, we consumers are the ones that win in the end with all the "one-upsmanship" that GM, Ford, and Chrysler does. I say BRING IT ON!

Isn't it entirely possible to do the exact same mods to a 2010 SS and achieve a 1/4 mile time in that neighborhood? I dont know alot about drag racing but since the 2 are so close in stock form why would the mustang be so much faster with these mods? ..........either way thats fast damn car they have there

Aren't you still driving a Mustang from that decade?

How about getting your 2011 Mustang, go to the track, post your timeslip, and then you'll have room to talk.
