As to the parts for Camaro -- you're wrong - most of the parts are made here in the United States and Canada --

And I would not consider Bob Lutz or Ed Welburn as beancounters........

the added quality in recent gm vehicles in recent years makes them the best you can buy in thier respective classes.

i love the fact that you saying that makes it pretty hard to deny. if i said it i would be told i didnt know anything...

I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to hear this. I surely hope that includes all electronics and microprocessors.

Matrix,

I think you have to remember that there are a bunch of entusiasts on this site, many of whom have ordered their Camaro. We all can't wait for this car to come out. There are spurts of of activity and information and we are all anxious. The news of GM's struggles makes us all concerned and we express our emotions in different ways. The most important thing is that this site gives us a place to express ourselves and frankly occupy our time while we wait. It only takes a second to look at the thread and judge the mood or the topic and you can move on to another if it doesn't suit your taste. Just remember that those on the thread might be using it as a chance to express themselves and keep their idle minds occupied.

A lot of people on this site wouldn't mind a counter-rant.

Some of us are frustrated that the politics section—you know, that place where political discussion would usually belong—had to be deleted because mature communication in that section didn't last. Instead, almost every high-profile, policy-oriented thread had to be deleted or closed due to reckless, offensive posts.

All American car supporters and American company supporters believe that the loss of any large American company is dangerous to American prosperity. GM is a symbol of American dominance in the automotive industry even when its cars don't dominate the market. When cars like the Cobalt SS break records and slaughter classics all over the world, it gives us pride. Likewise, the idea of such a potent force in the auto industry disappearing scares us shitless. Pardon my French, but I think that fear of loss is less of a cancer on these forums and more of a sign that we're so loyal that we might actually be hurt by the loss of our company.

Discussion of business decisions and politics regarding auto business is common in auto forums. I should add that politics affects everyone. Our governments and societies set rules that are intended to make society more just or better than it was before the change. Sadly, what is better for some people doesn't have the same positive impact on everyone else. A great example of that is the mortgage crisis that has caused the aforementioned fears of losing GM. Yet another example of this is the failure of the US government to act quickly on economic issues.

Someone referred to "beaners" as the problem. I want everyone to stay away from this type of language. While it doesn't personally insult me, it does insult someone. Name-calling is neither constructive nor appropriate. Prejudice is equally ridiculous. If you are making a generalized judgement about someone on these boards or off of these boards, keep that private.

With the positive vibes about our Camaro, we have negative ones. Some people have expressed issues with certain features of the car. That's okay. Overwhelmingly, Camaro5 members have expressed pride and joy in the Camaro. Almost all negative vibes have been caused by those who have fears about losing the Camaro or GM. I think that such fears are completely justified. It shows that we support the products and companies that bring us pride in GM.

In conclusion, I disagree with the gripes in the original post, although I completely understand the frustration with the negative vibes as I was very active in the section where many would argue recent posts about politics belong. At the same time, these posts are usually necessary discussions that teach a lot of members about the relationships among government, big business, and the economy as a whole. Many of us do not agree with the causes or effects of the market crisis right now, but we all agree that it is serious and should be discussed.

I agree with you whole heartedly. I UNDERSTAND that these things MUST be vented, what I was reffering to is that it shouldnt be in the General section where most newbies will venture into, it should be in a "Politics" section. Thats all.

I too have ordered my Camaro 2SS/RS. Loaded except for the sunroof. I too am stressed about the future of GM and the Camaro cos I LOVE THIS CAR SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!

I'm really partial to silver. I think it looks awesome with limo tints. Its also so much easier to keep looking clean. Somedays I just wipe the windows down and it looks clean even though its not! LOL!

I'm really hoping that the Z28 gets announced and I will jump at upgrading my 2SS to that but for now I am so ecstatic at just having my Camaro in my hands!!!!

I have 3 silver/grey vehicles already so I figured I would go with red for a nice change.

Appreciate the straight talk, fbodfather...YOU I believe. And if GM's current financial dilemma isn't a pertinent topic here at this point in time, I sure as hell don't know what is.
Now I, like all of us should, realize that we bystanders don't have the answers, but I find the the attitudes and opinions stated here quite interesting, and when I get bored, I tune out. I advise you do the same Matrix.

Really?

I'd love to see pictures of the DPC window sticker. Please share it with us.

Oh wait...you have no idea what the Camaro's DPC will be, do you?

Hey, ya know what -- all those threads mentioned were a bummer. and they sure did get some people's blood pressure up a bit (you know who you are).

But, thats what the off topic section is for -- not to gripe about what's going on on the general topics area, but to just post something totally irrelevant, humorous, or even sarcastic (in good nature).

So lets all just take a breath, and start having fun in the OT area.

I for one, am going to start paying more attention to the drivetrain/mechanical questions area also (looking forward to anything Spike contributes - the man is a wealth of information and experience) --

And the electronics area -- like theorizing about all the cool mods we can do, like colored faceplates for the gauges, stereo mods -- etc etc etc.

so while the main topics area is a microsample of the internet in general ("it's like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get" )

There are PLENTY of other areas on this forum that most of us (I'm guilty as well) ignore.

So, POST UP (silly here, thoughtful and non-repetitive in the other sub-forums)!!!

And quitcherbitchin!!!

OK!?!?!

ok.
