im not joking.

Ford being bankrupt is a real possibility. and If the Gov. had to save one, im pretty confident GM is going to be their pick because of size.

Chrysler has been trying to sell the Viper brand before they got into money problems. It's a really high cost, low profit car.

In addition, Chrysler business strategy seems not to care much for heritage, which I find really disappointing. Ford and GM both know that they need symbolic products to be successful. When properly marketed, the Mustang and Corvette make other cars more successful. If Chrysler really needs to make a buck, the company should be improving high-volume products rather than selling a low-volume brand. The best form of marketing is the grassroots approach. When everyone has your product and likes it, they'll continue to get it and refer others. Rather than dealing with high-volume brands by selling the Viper, Chrysler should work on making the Avenger a top-notch 4-banger or continuing to promote and improve the already successful Ram and PT Cruiser brands.

Frankly, the guy above is correct, the way you phrased that was in very poor taste. I may be a Ford guy on a GM board, and I fully believe that the 5.0L 2011 Mustang GT is going to do things to the Camaro SS we haven't seen in some time and am glad to claim the same in the name of good natured competition, but I would go out of my way to avoid even the appearance of making light of GM going bankrupt.

My honest opinion, and I've been knee deep in the world of business management and economics for a long time? GM is in the worst shape of all three auto makers by far. Why am I not trolling around GM boards rubbing salt in the wound and talking about the very real possibility that GM as we know it may go away forever? Because there isn't a ****ed thing funny about it and people who think that there is need their head examined.

We are talking about the jobs of thousands if any of the big three tank, even with the ineveitable reorganization/buyup which would follow, not to mention the emotional attachment many folks feel to these brands and the historical importance of these companies. To talk about how huge this is these are the companies we once called the arsenal of democracy, and with good reason. When we talk about the huge, world changing event that was the allied victory in WWII the B24 Liberator bomber's and Jeeps Ford produced make that company an indelible part of our history that changed our lives for the better forever. (just like Chrysler and GM did when they built countless war machines of their own including the B29 Superfortress built by Chrysler and Dauntless dive bomber built by GM) These guys aren't making B grade widgets in Hong Kong they are part of the bedrock of what has become modern America.

I look forward to the 5.0L powered 2011 GT with a grin which goes from ear to ear, particularly when I think about the Camaro SS owners I plan on giving an in depth education in Mustang tail-light identification. But more than any of that I actually want there to be a new Camaro SS to run across at those stoplights to begin with....and anybody else who doesn't feel the same way about all three of the Big Three isn't worth the time or trouble.

btw. i dont know how you took it, but my remarks werent ment to rub salt in a wound, i have family members who work for Ford and am more tied to that company than i am GM... just happen to like GM products more, thus my being here.

The Mustangs never "sounded" appealing to me. GM's cars always had a better sound then fords imo.

Nice general analogy, would be even better if it were true....it isn't. That said I don't think Congoman is on that list.

On this board, we don't want American companies to go under, but I get the feeling that a bunch of forums written in Japanese feel otherwise.
