very cool to see everyone actually taking part in this government the way it was designed...and showing your support for the big 3.

Just fyi, the poll isn't nearly as important as the letter...I'm just curious to see who and how many people sent one.

Here was the reply i had gotten from my senator Sherrod Brown:

Dear Mr. Sox:

Thank you for expressing your views on providing financial assistance to the automobile industry.

The economic downturn and the crisis in our financial markets have hurt the domestic automobile industry and its workforce. The auto industry accounts for more than 100,000 jobs in Ohio. Failing to help automakers at this time of great economic uncertainty would have disastrous consequences for our state.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson urging him to consider using the funds approved in the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act (EESA) to provide temporary assistance to the automobile industry. I hope Secretary Paulson will act on their request.

I am working with my colleagues to provide responsible help to the auto industry to prevent even greater economic dislocation to Ohioans. I strongly support restrictions to executive pay and bonuses as a condition for government help. In addition, I will fight for provisions that will keep auto industry jobs in this country. Ohio has already lost too many jobs abroad – this funding must include safeguards against outsourcing.

Thank you again for contacting me. I will certainly keep your views in mind as the Senate continues to discuss ways to aid the struggling U.S. auto industry.

Sincerely,
Sherrod Brown

This is for everybody and anybody who wants to help GM, and consequently; our country!

If you have any notion of what's going on in the economy, and specifically, the auto Industry; you know it's not pretty. And if you've read recent posts on that subject by Fbodfather, Hylton, myself and others (I apologize for not being good with names) and even remotely agree with us...then I strongly urge you to follow the hyperlink and DO something about it.

http://www.capitolconnect.com/gmfact...e/default.aspx

This site has been prepared by GM (I assume), and has a letter all ready to be sent off to your local representative and state senators in Congress regarding the gov't loans to the auto Industry. It doesn't take but 2 minutes (not exaggerating) to fill out your name and email address, scan over the to-the-point letter, and click 'send'. Your representatives are there to listen to YOU...to represent YOU in the big hall. YOU voted them in (well...that may or may not be true, but you get the point) so USE THEM!!!

I won't harp on anything here...but if you are unsure of your stance on the subject, then please visit this site, too. It helps to break down the facts in clean black+white lettering. At which point you can decide to be for or against government assistance to the automakers.

I think it's about time we all started doing something to help this country...and you'd be surprised just how far a "silly" letter can go.

Thanks for your time...and please do it!
thank you for posting this link. We all must do our part to keep the auto industry alive in this coutry. We made a big mistake by allowing the steel inudstry, and the electronics industry go over our borders. Let's not make another mistake that can take our country under.

I tried to, but at the moment it seems to be US only. I even went to GM.ca and it sent me to the US site.
