The 5.0 is setup more for a road course than a drag strip from the factory.

Yeah, so we're comparing a 100 shot 5.0 to a 200 shot camaro. I'd like to see what the 5.0 would do with 200. I wonder if it could handle it for long.

that is the gazillion dollar question. tuning. on modulars 99-04, if the tuning was stellar, they could live with incredible power considering their design limits. there is a fellow in texas who has a 2v that is still alive with 700rwhp on totally stock internals. Tim Barth at MPH has tuned it. check with him to verify what i say. EVO will find the limit early if they keep detonating noz.

2011 GT Auto times...
Posted on another Forum....
This is a private owner, does not own a shop and is not a professional racer... Quote:
This Time slip is not related to the Video below, this is the best run ![]() Video vs the Mustang (Stock) vs Camaro (Modded) He was racing a Camaro with LongTubes (and winning) and the Camaro owner confirmed. Looks like the times could be improved if he could get his 60' down. I was a bit skeptical at first but it seems legit. USA - CA - Sacramento Raceway 7:53 PM 5-26-2010 Density Altitude: 411 feet Relative Density: 98.8 % Edit... Here is his Stock Dyno Sheet (6 speed Automatic)

Except that the MPH is definitely question. It seems people are saying that the Sacremento track reads high in the trap, but the ET is still good!
Also, the Camaro also ran the same ET as him, just not when he was racing him. |

Chevy really needs to make more commercials about the Camaro. I never see Chevy Camaro commercials. Only Malibu, Volt, Tahoe, ect.

From what I have read about the Coyote motor the rods are just as weak as the previous 4.6 rods. From having a 08GT the general rule of thumb was to not go over 450RWHP with that motor. I heard Ford did this on purpose so that people would be forced to buy a new FRPP shortblock when wanting to supercharge or turbo charge. It does seem like a marketing ploy to me to have a steller block and heads with a great forged crank only to have weak rods. JMO
