I agree with you, I've always felt that there are some very arrogant / rude individuals on this site since the 1st day I posted here. I was originaly posting over on modern camaro and then a local camaro owner told me about this site. I would say that this site is better as far as gaining information ..BUT...the other site is more friendly, especially to noobies.
I guess it is easy to be a asshole when your sitting behind a keyboard though and not talking face to face with someone.

It's simple. If you don't like it when someone asks these questions, just pass right on and don't answer. No need to start another stupid thread bitching and moaning about how you don't like it because someone isn't OCD and has to know EVERYTHING about their car (even though I did read my owners manual the night I brought it home).

This site wasn't always like this, some of the people who have been here a while have just forgotten what it was like when they were new and had a hundred questions. We are sort of like a family here....if you can't ask your family members a stupid question who can you ask?

(That's a rhetorical question.....I know many of us wouldn't ask some of our real family members anything. )

Granted, i post in some of those to be sarcastic. lol doesn't bother me though.
You are right to some degree, but a lot of those people who buy uninformed then get upset and Bit*h about it afterwards. I have read threads here of people unhappy with fuel mileage for instance or the guy that got bent out of shape because he could not rotate his tires after burning off the rears. Or ones Ihave seen here griping because the RS does not have fog lights.

Guess my point is if you don't research it then don't complain later.

I'm still a newb to the Camaro would, and while I feel like I have a good handle on the car, there are still things I'm learning. When I bought my Camaro I knew that the Camaro had two HP ratings, but I didn't realize that they were two different engines until I got onto this board. When I ordered my Camaro I saw that there wasn't a spare included so I asked my dealer. I didn't realized that the SS had different size wheels because of the brakes. I knew that the RS didn't have fog lights because of the driving lights, but I thought all the Camaro's were like this.

I admit it, I was the newb that all of you wanted to choke the hell out of, but for the most part ya'll have been good to me. I just try to pass that kindness onto other new members, because weren't we all new at some point?

don't forget the impluse buyers who see something, have the money, and buy it b/c it looks cool or whatever. they know nothing about it but in time they will learn even if they have to ask a few dumb questions first.

I try and answer a lot of questions from beginners, I do this because not too long ago I myself was a beginner. To me a Camaro owner is a Camaro owner and I am happy to help out or learn from anyone who has a Camaro, plans on buying a Camaro or is simply a Camaro enthusiast.

This is the very thing that is turning me off about this website lately.

I have to disagree with you. For the most part, the users on this site are informed, patient, and positive people. There are always gonna be those bad apples in every bushel. When I read a negative ad, I try to avoid it, even though at times, it's tempting to join in. I have never been part of a better group. I have asked questions on other sites and was completely ignored, I almost always get a prompt knowledgeable response here. I have spent hours looking things up for people on here and I know several that have done the same for me. Anyway, we have a group from Indy on here and they are super! I'm sure you feel the same way, you just need to avoid those negatives.

I typed that almost exact same thought to a co-worker today, who thought she asked a dumb question. But it was phrased more like...

"there is no such thing as a stupid question" ...or... "ignorance is bliss" (Pick which phrase you'd want to represent you.)

That being said, I do see the OP's point here, $20k - $40k is a lot of cash to spend on something before you know some of the basics about it. And I think he was talking about the 'basics'... not all the little details.

As for the overall board, c'mon this place is getting better by the day! Granted I've only been aware of Camaro5 since late '09... but I love seeing more and more people show up each day... I love seeing how the Admins tweek everything.... I love the attitude of each and every moderator. (I love your cowboy hat!)

I'm sorry if you've read some posts or even entire threads which displease you... but you can not say this board is headed in the wrong direction!

You are right....there are some GREAT people here, and a wonderful knowledge base. Usually people are happy to help others out, but this last week there have been several questions or posts made that the OP just got dumped on...or lectured....or spoken to rudely. It's not the norm that's for sure.
