In fact, weird European standards used by companies like BMW aside, in my experience the Mustang is one of only two performance cars on the market today which typically actually weighs a little less than what the factory claims...the other is the Vette. Although the situation with the Vette could have changed since, with respect to the Chevy, it has been a few years since I have spent much time around those cars.

Although a direct injected version of the new 5.0L is coming, the 400+hp 5.0L slated for the 2011GT will use run of the mill PFI.

Would like to see some proff on that statement from what I heared the 5.0 DI will definitely be avaliable in the 2011 model year if not sooner

It is obese and out runs your gt. Face it Ford screwed up. They built a "muscle car with only 300hp and a lincoln chasis and thought that it would be enough?

nope...awesome lightweight motor +safety equpment for the added horses=same place as before, slower than the rest.

you are comparing a 05 Stang to a 2010 Chally thats stupid everyone knows that car technology evolves you must compare a 2011 GT to a 2011 SRT8 and in doing that your OBESE CHALLY will lose sorry ,keep dreaming , face it the CHALLY was a screw up from DODGE why did they have to use a MONSTER PLATFORM LIKE THAT?????? and it won't compete with the NEXT GEN DI 5.0 running NORTH OF 420+ HP weighing MUCH LESS GUARANTEED

wow can you read?

I am talking about the 09 challenger vs the 09 gt...if you want to get technical then the challenger is an 05 as well since it weights as much as a charger or 300 and shares the same platform/engine/auto. cmon stop with this lame excuses. 2011 if you want to go that far you will probably see the stang move up to the baby 5.0 while the OBESE challenger gets even more obese with a 6.4l 392 hemi....now that is legendary.

keep dreaming....maybe you can call tinkerbell to come spray some fairy dust over Ford headquarters.

I want to point out how easy it is to read your post as saying that Ford didn't have the foresight to build a car ahead of its time. If a Ford Mustang can't still be considered a good car 4 years after it came out, then it is a failure of design. Ford now has to keep up with the superior competition from Dodge and Chevrolet. Unfortunately, Ford's "legendary" 5.0L V8 won't be the godsend that some Ford fans imagine it will be. It won't smack the competition; it will keep up. I'm not being harsh. It's just really hard to go from 300 horses to 400 horses with nothing in between. That's what happens when a manufacturer releases a car without any competition. It suddenly becomes really easy to surpass.

a 5.0 DOHC 4V V8 engine with future ability for GDI and turbo is just keeping up?

Yes—DI technology would be ahead of GM's non-DI technology. No—the performance will be no better than the existing performance of current GM engines.

In other words, it will keep up with the Camaro and Challenger.

at 4100+ POUNDS believe me it will need this (6.4 L LEGENDARY MOTOR) just to keep up , I wonder how much weight it will add lol... DODGE NEEDS TO GET WITH THE TIMES AND BUILD DI MOTORS , THAT IS THE FUTURE... at least Chevy is already putting the V6 DIs in the CAMARO , why do you think they are getting 300+hp out of a V6 , SIMPLY PUT DIRECT INJECTION MEANS MUCH MORE HP PER CUBIC INCH vs CONVENTIONAL MOTORS LIKE DODGE HAS

it won't have GDI when its released, it will get GDI and a possible turbo later. its 400 HP w/o GDI, plus its a DOHC engine, the competition is still OHV

All in all its still speculation till the facts are released on paper from FOMOCO... This "I heard its a 400+ hp motor" isnt anything but wishful thinking till its in print. You can guess until you are blue in the face.

I heard that the preproduction headlights will be standard on the Z28 which will have a LS9.

If you believe the above statement, then I imagine it is equally feasible to believe that the 5.0L Mustang will be available in 2010.
