the dodge R/T has less horsepower and more weight than the Camaro SS... explain how an R/T has any hope of winning, both drivers being equal?

Because its putting down the same wheel HP on average (around 330-335) and if it gets the Camaro off the line it can run the 1320 faster? Maybe the side of the track the R/T was running on was better prepped? Everyone can have a bad run, especially good drivers.

On average the R/T is putting down around the same WHP as the Camaro, and is around 150 pounds heavier at race weight. I wont even get into the "The R/T's are underrated" argument here.

Unless of course you want to pretend the time slip in my signature is fake, then by all means..pretend away.

Hm, now that is interesting. Did not realize the SS was so much less efficient with gettin the power to the wheels.

I knew the Dodge guys couldn't dodge this thread. Let's get back to bashing poor artistic design rather than the merits of a Dodge dodging first and ramming second at the finish line.

I am completely aware that those puns are terrible. Seriously, let's get back to the topic.

I'm assuming that the group of marketers who thought that was a good idea are the same ones behind the awful ad campaign Dodge has been running lately. I really do want Chrysler to survive, and really want to root for them, but they keep making it so damn hard.

If Dodge wants to go sporty, how about improving the engineering instead of changing the trim. Putting a "sporty" emblem on an Avenger does not make it a sporty car...although maybe if they put racing strips on it.

(P.S> To avoid angry replies, let me say that the Charger and Challenger are sweet cars, at least in R/T (or SRT) trim. Other than those though, everything else screams rental car.)

Some old timer can correct me, but didn't adding the Ram's head to cars only start happening pretty recently? I thought Dodge went years with no marque symbol except for the little triangle (not the pentastar) that said 'dodge division' and that was usually low key like a hub cap or a chiclet? I thought that Ram's head only started showing up in the 90s so not like it has a huge history.

Basically "Ram" became the brand name and "1500, 2500, 3500" became the model names.

I think this is what you are thinking of, the first one was from a dodge dart GT..the next is the hood emblem from a Challenger I think they should just go back to that emblem instead...
