Horrible English ! Product of the US school system

I'm getting a little sick of reading the horrible English on the forum (and I'm sure I'm not the only one). If time is taken to spell correctly, it shows respect and more readers will show respect back to you with quality replies. You don't want people to think you are stupid, right?

I'm not talking typos of long words, (; ) I'm talking easy grade 3 stuff.

Since some of you were smoking pot during grammar class, here's a few easy ones you can master, and people won't think you just got your shiney (shiny) new US high school diploma.

Lesson 1: [To, Too, Two]

To:
I went to the dealer.

Too (as well):
I have an IOM, too.
I too am a nube.(noob)
Too (extreme):
My transmission temp guage (gauge) is reading too hot.
You are too much(.)
Too funny!

Two:
I have two feet(.)
(someone actually misused this word)

Lesson 2: [Your, You're]

You're (you are):
You're nuts, dude(.)
I think you're an a-hole.
You're in for a big surprise if you rotate your RS wheels.

Your (owned by you):
Your Camaro looks ghetto.
I barfed on your Camaro

Lesson 3: (P)putting words together

I have a CAI(.)
I have an excellent CAI(.)

The difference is that a vowel starts the next word, use 'an', else use 'a'. (a vowel is a, e, i, o or u)

Lesson 4

There... location: The black camaro is over there.

Their... possessive: The mustangs are theirs, the Camaros are ours...

They're... contraction of they are: They're going to buy a new Camaro.

I think punctuation is the real culprit, not bad spelling.

Also, please use punctuation marks in your ramblings about why you got a speeding ticket (that wasn't your fault) or how the kid next door with the civic thinks your camaro is whack.

Punctuation marks include such items as commas (,), periods (.), and even semi-colons (, as well as everything above the row of numbers on the keypad. Many punctuation marks and special characters require use of the SHIFT key. For example, simply hold SHIFT, and press the number 4 key, then release the shift key. This will type "$".

This will help us understand -- and possibly even reply to -- your worthless ramblings. You'll probably get flamed either way, but at least you'll make it nicer for the rest of us.

Just a note when you make such a thread. Check your own spelling and grammar first.

1. shiney new US high school
shiny

2. typos of long words,
words;

3. My transmission temp guage is reading too hot.
gauge

People take this stuff to seriously imo..

Amen! Here's my contribution:

Advise and advice – I see this one over and over again on forums where people write “my advise is”. I’ll give examples of the correct usage: I’m going to give you some advice. Please advise him of the problems with his car. One ends in “ice” and is pronounced like “ice”. See? Is that so hard?

I don't have a degree in English and the only thing I read is what's on a computer screen. I even nearly failed my senior year of English in high school (way back when). I do know the basics though, which is why it's irritating when I see people not even try.

I take it just as seriously - but eh, people are lazy nowadays, most of them don't take the time to do it properly. One hopes they can at least speak/write properly in the real world. In the forums, it's probably a bunch of 16-23 year old kids who can't type properly.

Ironic considering this is coming from yet another 23-year old kid.
