I guarantee it will be lighter than the competition especially the CHALLY there is no way in Hell it will gain 600+ pounds get real lol..., I read a article that FORD is working on weight saving tech for most of there fleet to save fuel etc.. especially the GT , even if safety regs are added it will still be lighter than the SS due to it's LINCOLN LS platform , I think most people will agree

Oh really? Is that why the new GT500 weighs 3920 lbs?

The 2008 Mustang GT Premium curb weight is 3540 lbs with an automatic and 3356 lbs with a manual. Add a person to that because curb weight doesn't include a driver. Add to that the weight of all those stickers that you're sure to get when you buy your Mustang GT Special Ultimate Pink Ribbon Pro-America Prostate Cancer 427 Race California Heritage Extra Edition.

???

GT Coupe Manual Trans:

2005-2006 = 3,356 lbs
2007-2008 = 3,483 lbs (a gain of 127 lbs per Ford)

GT Coupe Auto Trans:

2005-2006 = 3,540 lbs
2007-2008 = 3,532 lbs (a reduction of 8 lbs per Ford)

that's straight from ford. someone on the mustangsource weighed their 08 with full fluids and gas. its came out to about 3490, that's with standard transmission. there are a few with 05s that are right at 3600 that's including driver

How much weight will that Mullet add,not to mention the dead hooker in the trunk. Oops, don't forget the "in memory of 3" sticker, but i think that adds 5HP to offset the extra weight of the gold chains the owner is wearing......oops,let me add a so you know i'm just joking

I'm sure they'll be at least a couple of those, but I'm more likely to put subs in the trunk than a hooker.

Maybe I'm really just jealous of the flowing hair from the mullet of one of my fellow Camaro-lovers.

In all seriousness, there's more to winning races than weight, and the Mustang has made that abundantly clear.

Don't be jealous because your market superiority is going away because there is actual competition now, and the only advantage you seem to be able to tote is weight. An advantage which will be shored up as soon as the new Mustang comes out, since it will need to be 5-star crash rated.

An article about weight saving technology? A you freaking kidding me? You think Ford is the only company doing this? I guarantee you both GM and Dodge did as much as they could to make their current pony cars as light as possible but still maintain all the features that must be included. The reason Dodge is heavier is because of the sheer size and room. I'd much rather ride in the back of the Challenger than the Camaro. If the new Mustang includes anything that would enable it to compete then it WILL weigh nearly as much as the Camaro, and any difference will be negligible at best.

Why is this so hard for you to grasp?
