People are dropping them like crazy and the may be bought out or even go Bankrupt themselves??

Apples anyone?

I'm in an MBA program with some well informed students and Profs that brought this up a few weeks back. One-sided news networks are going under and less diverse media groups, such as CNN are the next to bite it. See, in order to compensate for lower incomes, cable companies are dropping higher priced networks, such as CNN, MTV, to make cable a tad bit cheaper. Lately CNN has been on the woes-watch to try and boost ratings. They are in a fix too. Look it up. A Cable co is Califonia is dropping MTV and CNN.
i find it interesting that your response to something you don't want to hear is that you don't have to listen to it because you don't like who said it. no disrespect, but the fallacies in your argument are atrocious.

I would absolutely still buy one and in my opinion, chapter 11 might be the best option for them. I know I might ruffle some feathers but this may be the only way for them to tell the unions to go take a hike.

I would. And no I did not do a poll because we have way to many of those around here.
F**K yes I would, in a "New York" minute. ")

Let's see pay full boat price $$$ for a new car with no warranty/dealer support and maybe no parts later on, that will undoubtedly become obsolete quickly given the push for new technology...well...but it is a moot question if they declare B-ruptcy within the next 6 months there would be no car and I think my $500 deposit would be long gone...same question must be in front of someone looking at challengers

Enthusiest only = Fail, and those are the only people that would buy a car from a failing company. The Camaro is a nice car/expenditure not necessity no doubt, but why would you support a business that is in the dump. All of you that think the Camaro would be worth more.....you couldnt be more wrong, you wouldnt be able to give the car away. In times like this the people of the country are only buying things they need from places like Walmart and the Camaro isnt something anyone needs.

Mark my words, GM is WAY to late to the game with this car, it has already failed. I'll be surprised if they start producing them in 09 at all.

I would like to say to myself that I am a big enough fan that it would not matter to me. But in reality it would make me nervous. I would more than likely wait it out. Unless they have a fire sale to raise capitol then i might pick up a Camaro and a Malibu.

Has a top 5 company ever gone bankrupt?

I remember reading that GM was close to being bankrupt but was saved due to it's size. But it has me thinking if it is possible for a company like GM, Ford, Caterpillar, or John Deere to go bankrupt. I mean if they go belly up that is a lot cash that is needed or if you liquidate you would need a lot of buyers.

Nothing has ever hit the auto industry as it is being hit now. They are selling half the amount of cars they did last year, banks aren't giving consumers loans despite being given 750 billion to do just that , and banks are not willing to lend the auto-industry money because they have none!

I know some of you think Jim Cramer is a nutbar but he hit the nail on the head the other night. Watch his video on this link where he sums up the whole American auto industry and the impact to our economy nicely:
