For too long, GM had the parochial ideal that "unless it was conceived/designed/executed in America, it was less than the 14th Floor deserved, and less than worthy". Lutz, finally, put a bullet in the head of that notion. Bancruptcy, hopefully, buried it... No one can simply ignore "anything from anywhere, anymore"... And Chinese and Korean investment/production are the current living proof of that... Without them, GM and others are DONE!

BTW, avoiding non-North American developed product should have some rethinking their Camaros... Australia is its own continent...
You have made my point almost entirely, so thank you for saving me a lot of work. (though responding within the quote to prevent me from directly responding to the response was a nice touch, I admit). One part did stand out. Do you really believe that Toyota's throttle problem was caused by American industry, and not by Toyota? Like I posted earlier Toyota's marketers have created a religion, not just a reputation.

For what its worth, I generally don't put much stock into JD Power ratings. 3 years is nowhere near enough time to gauge long term reliability and the fact that it is coming from a company that sells its reviews to the producers of the products it is reviewing makes it questionable anyway.

It is also a flawed comparison, because only listing number of problems says nothing of the severity of the problems. For example, in such a study, a rattle in the door carries equal weight to such issues as parts falling off vehicle, a structural integrity problem, or throttles getting stuck wide open.

Fielder, I find it curious that your "sig" includes Toyota's marketing mantra..."Moving Forward..."

Were you aware of that?

As you may know from one of my previous posts, here, you/it has been revised: "Moving Forward...Unintentionally..."

As to you not "putting stock" in anything "objective" is not surprising...JD Power "on the take" is a new concept in conspiracy theories, near as I know...

As to the "parts falling off", it's covered if you go back far enough...look under "Yugo"...and I'll let you fill in the rest...

I was aware of my own signature. In fact, I typed it myself. The screaming head at the steering wheel should have given away the joke.

The fact that JD Power makes money selling car reviews to car producers is not a conspiracy theory, it is a fact (and not a new one). They make money selling their studies to manufacturers. Every car company that uses JD Power in an ad is basically a client, since they have to buy the rights to use it.

Not sure what going back far enough is supposed to mean, but as to parts falling off, I was thinking "Tundra" not "Yugo," though it has been a good comparison lately.

So are his posts on other threads. After I posted that here, he followed me to the Pontiac thread to tell me about Vibe buyers moving to the Toyota nameplate.
