Initially, yes, more torque is put down, but as soon as the Mustang has to shift, the camaro is still in the lower gear putting down more torque. So if the Mustang has to shift to second at 40, and the camaro doesn't have to until 52, the camaro has that extra time in first gear with more torque to the ground.

All of those are on the first page and they are all made by either camaro guys or in the livernois case, a vendor. What do you want to happen here? Do you not want the guys that are more knowledgable about mustangs to post in the threads about mustangs? What would happen to your information if that happened? There are one or two threads made by mustang guys, but the majority are made by chevy guys and we chime in because we know more about the mustangs. It's exactly what should happen and for the most part, I think the threads have stayed pretty calm and respectful. I know for a fact if there were 20 threads on mustang forums about camaros there would be a ton of camaro guys in there. It happens all the time. That's why these forums are useful because you can get info from the people that know.

I'm just curious, what do you claim to know about the 2011 Mustang that the rest of us don't, or that we all don't find out about at the same time (as new information is released)?

Seems to me that you're in the same boat we are, just with a different perspective...

The 2011 GT and the 370z have the same skid pad numbers when the mustang is on the summer tires.

Fact remains that the camaro still holds the record. (not that it always will)

Every time this car runs 12's we have to hear about how it is king of the world....I know it may be exciting for you mustang guys....but we have been doing this since 1998 with our GT counterpart.

Don't get carried away. The car is making a howling noise, it could be anything, the transmission has not been "destroyed." You don't powershift a brand new car and make 20+ runs with under 50 miles on it and expect no issues, at least I wouldn't. It could be a throw out bearing or clutch issue. How do you know the tires and wheels are lighter? The tires ARE a big issue because the tires he's on are far, far less sticky than the optional summer tires. That just means the car is capable of more than what he ran. How much faster, we will only know when we see more cars run. We will also have to wait and see about the transmission.

It's still an s197 and I'm going to assume that the people getting pissed about all the mustang posts here have done a lot less research on the coyote and the s197 than us owners/former owners.

You know what is really cool? That us pony-car V8 motor-heads have 3 great cars to choose from. Each of them is different enough to make choosing between them fun. All three are fast and handle and look good. If you were to predict this three years ago it would seem like a dream. Three great cars and now with the Coyote three great engines.

I am leaning towards the Mustang now. But in a few years I am hoping to sample a Camaro or maybe even a Challenger. Firebird, Camaro, Mustang I have owned all three and enjoyed owning each one. No a one car fanboy, I think part of the fun is making a choice.

But it is also fun to bust on each other about our cars. Nothing personal. We are really all the same.
