yea the stangs interior has imporved over the last stangs but it is nowhere close to the camaro. same goes to the challanger.

i disagree, especially when comparing the center stacks, the camaro's interior seems a bit tacky, but that's just my subjective opinion.

It's so plain...and...flat. No excitement...no emotion. The overall layout in the Mustang just screams "dull" to my eyes, and I think that's what bugs me most about it.

In fact, I checked out a Mustang interior the other day at the dealership 'mall' (had my inspection done...)...it left me with very poor impressions in materials and layout. I was very dissapointed, because I'm supposed to be upgrading from a Cobalt (which is pretty far down the list when you're talking interiors) and didn't see much improvment if I were to theoretically get a stang.

But then...I looked at its body again, and forgot all about the interior so.........

^^ exactly what i was going to say. the interior is dull.

its presonal prefrence aneways. some people like a new desgined interior while other like a plain layed out inteiror.

sorry for the off topic but is that a v6 stang in the pic or a v8. why does it only have a 5speed? i thought mustangs were 6speeds?

they all use tremec transmissions. the mustang uses the T5, the mustang GT uses the T3650 (a five speed) and the GT500 uses the same six speed that's in the corvette, the viper and the new camaro. the mustang gt will get that 6 speed in 2011, but for now, it uses the tr3650, which i think is a pretty good transmission

I think it looks refined and simplistic, but it does not look bad by any means. I like the shifter knob that comes standard..

i cant get past it, i cant bring myself to seriously concider a mustang due to its primative mechanics which have become STANDARD.

when other companies are building double clutch trannys which can shift faster than you can blink, its shocking ford cant put a 6 speed in a mustang

the 5 speed shouldn't really bother you performance wise; the extra gear will just give you 2 extra mpg hwy

Blah,blah,blah. If you don't want a Mustang,just say you don't like them,instead of whining about things that,if the Mustang had them,you wouldn't buy one anyway.
The "primative suspension" has worked fine for 45 years,and i doubt most people couldn't tell the difference except for on a bumpy road and the SRA certainly didn't hurt the 4th Gen F-body from being one of the best performance cars in the world,did it?
We're getting a six-speed next year,big deal,what will be your excuse then. The 5-speed certainly isn't holding up the Bullitt,which is right near the performance of the SRT8.
Double clutch trannys?? Wow,you're stretching your argument. Jesus,i thought this was a Camaro board,why don't you go hang out at a VW board so you can complain when the overly-complicated tranny breaks on your GTI,meanwhile,people that like simple,basic,rugged,reliable Muscle cars will be over here.
Stop making justifications,which you don't car about,for a car you have no interest in.
I can't bring myself to buy one due to Ford not offering AWD and dual-clutch expresso machine....blah,blah,blah

How much does a 100 ms shift actually help your performance numbers? Its not as if your car is stopped when shifting then instantly accelerates up to a new speed. It allows you to get better acceleration a fraction of a second sooner. That matters a lot in F1 racing but how much does it really help someone who takes their car to a track on the occasional weekend? Compare that to the added cost of these ultra quick shifting transmissions and I don't think they are worth it on cars like the Camaro and Mustang.

Worked fine for 45 years... well. i guess that depends on your definition of 'fine'.

if 'fine' means that you can continue to exist without actually spending money to develop and better your product to make it competative in a world market, then yes.... the mustang's primative tranny has been doing just fine.

A quick shifting tranny like a DCT can take your 0-60 from 4.3 to 4.1, but it helps BIG TIME on a track. (and when i say track i mean a real track, not a drag strip...even though it would help there too)

It allows you to always be in the right gear, and focus 100% of your effort on other things.

I was talking about the SRA,which has been developed and improved throughout its 45 years and it is competitive,look at all the Grand Am cup titles over the "world market",you switched it to the tranny,which is gone by 2011. So what are you going to whine about then?
Also,if you're one of the tiny % of cars that have been in production since the '60s,what does that say about being competitive in this "world market".
Oh no,a youtube Edmonds test,you got me there........... C'mon, a car giving away almost 100 more HP should roundly kick the Bullitts ass,which it doesn't,due to its fat-ass. That 5-speed and a measly 315HP will fill the mirror of that SRT8 and stay there more than you'd like to admit. The Bullitt is not faster,but the SRT8 doesn't deliver a knockout.
