Going to the strip and second thoughts...
I cant believe I am going to tell you guys this LOL but what the hell.
So I still live at home and Im 25. I just got a great job about 1 year ago, but I am not full time yet so I am waiting to move out then. The parents are flipping out about me going to the track for a lot of various reason. The car wont be covered, I still owe money on it (17k) etc. etc. Obviously I could just say screw them and do it anyway...but I still live here and they feed me and I pay no rent ![]() I usually respect their point of view... So right now I am debating on what to do as ridiculous as it may sound. I need some advice LOL |

Considering the info above I would say you may be better off listening to them to avoid any arguements or uncomfortable silences. Up to you though.

If you never raced at the Drag Strip before, you should get with someone who can guide you through the process. As long as you don't over rev or miss shift your car you should be fine. And stay away from the water pit unless you are running slicks. When street tires go through the water at the track they pick up and maintain the water in the tread which is bad for traction.
Either way, good luck. |

If you live with them, listen to them. You can always go and not run your car. Hell, I have been to both lapeer and milan when not driving. It's still a lot of fun. As long as you live with your parents and respect them, you should listen to them. If you can convince them it's not a bad idea, then good for you go for it. If not, just keep in mind your parents are pretty much just like you, but with more life experience.
I'm 20 by the way, so I know your point of view. Are you paying for the car or are your parents? If they're paying for it, this is a no-brainer. If you are, well I still say it's a no-brainer. You live under their roof. |

Im 20 (almost 21) and have lived on my own since I was 17, but I still listen to my parents (most of the time), and most of the time they are right. I can't remember how many times they told me "Don't buy that car" "Dont get that loan" or the most recent "Don't buy a motorcycle" (that one I'm not listening to haha) and 75% of the time I listen to them, and of the 25% of the time I don't, about 75% of the time I wish I would have. lol, IDK just my 2 cents. BUT!!! in your situation, I wouldn't listen to them. Just go, be smart, be safe and you will prove yourself

Yeah, I would say if you are going to go then buy the full coverage insurance for it. There is special insurance for drag racing, its expensive, but not as expensive as losing 30+ thousand dollars.

If you have a little extra money try to buy a beater to race. I agree with AlSuwaidii, you don't want to have an accident and still have to pay for a car you can't drive. That exact thing happened with a friend of mine on a Harley.
Maybe you and your dad could use this as a project together. Track racing is much safer than street racing. Invite him to go with you next time you go.

If you do go, for the love of GOD, buy some special insurance. Your insurance stops the instant you line up @ the lights.
