(Don't take this the wrong way), but there isn't enough money in the world to get me to deal with that type of stuff. I was watching a show a couple of months back & they were dealing with too much. I'm glad there are people that can deal with this type of stuff, or there would be a lot more deaths than there already are.

Sorry to hear about your night. I have the utmost respect for EMTs. Its people like you who saved my 1yr old sons life one night. You may not see yourself as a hero but trust me most everybody you help sees you as one.

Thank you for all you do. I don't have the stomach for that kind of work - especially when it would come to injured children. Again, thank you!!

We coded a 2 year old girl; apneic and pulseless (not breathing, no pulse). She was cyanotic, and her eyes lifelessly open halfway. No history or recent ilness. In the middle of the code while bagging her (breathing with Bag Valve Mask) I started thinking about my neice. I almost wanted to cry but I kept my bearing. I remember praying in my head the whole time.
I mean, this little girl hasnt even started living. I can hardly type right now.

And not 10 min later, we run another code, of a 34 yr old man, as Jaundice (yellow) as a smiley. He had Cirosis of the liver. Guys, please wach how much you drink. It really sucks to get Liver Cirosis. Yet anoher sensless death.
34, and 2. too young.

I dont know if Ill sleep tonigh. Usually this is very easy for me. Been doing it for 2 years, but somehow today was exra hard. The little ones get 2 you.

Thanks for reading guys, needed to vent
Thank you for all you do. I will pray for them.

Wow EMT, that had to have been rough. There is never any way to understand why tragic things happen to those so young. It could never make any sense. I feel for you for having to witness it, but my heart really goes out for that little girl who just was barely beginning to live, and to her family who will feel her loss and grieve for a very long time.

As far as the older gentleman that drank himself to death, I had a client I was representing do the same thing. Despite being told by his doctors, family, counselors, and me that he had to abstain, he didn't. The worst part was that his parents found him. Depression or some other mental illness is often at the root of alcoholism, and untreated, can end in tragedy.

I feel very bad for you, hopefully you'll have some happier memories soon and this one of the little girl won't haunt you. God bless you and thank you for what you do, and I for one am glad there are people out there that can do this job, I know I couldn't.
