The heat sucks to the point you just have to stay inside a lot.
He ultimately decided to leave after the 3rd time he found a scorpion walking around INSIDE the house fighting with the family dog. He has 2 young kids so I am sure he was scared for them.

He lives back on Long Island now.
There are a lot of NYers that went there but ended up moving back that I either personally know or know of. It's just not really a place where a NYer can adjust to live.

You can always drive up to Mt Lemon in the mountains takes about an hour to get there from most parts of Tucson. Much cooler there. Again hiking and a great place to rock climb (Windy Point). Housing is more than affordable. I like the North West side of town closer to Oro Valley. You have your choice between "Track" homes (you know where they all look the same). You can also get "Horse Property" where you between 1 - 3 acres of land. And no you don't have to have a horse to live there. Scorpions, yes I have found a couple, even got stung once. It felt like my leg was on fire. It lasted less then half a day. I have not heard of anyone dying from one since I have been here. But yes we do have all kinds of wild life here. You name it, it has been in my back yard. Rattle snakes, tarantulas, bob cats, coyotes, havalenas (wild pig looking thing). It is the desert after all.
Looking at web info demographics on Oro Valley, looks real nice. Thanks for the tip !

Phoenix (which includes Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, ect) is EPIC compared to Tucson. I wish I worked out of Casa Grande so I could go to Phoenix for fun. I prob am looking for other things than you being 26 and single with no kids. AZ is the best for Motorcycles, u can ride 360 days a year

As far as places to live, it seems like ur best bet is gonna be the millions of cookie cutter master planned commmunites. where all the houses are like 3 inches from each other.

I live bout 15 minutes outside of Tucson. btw

For every 1 who moves back 3 don't.

I just made that up stat , but PHX went from way down on the list to the 5th largest city last I heard in 2008-09.

Maybe younger move back, but many many middle aged and retirees move there and don't leave.

My brother lived in PHX for 3 yrs. He said the best part about it was "NO ALLERGIES". We are from OK and we have everything to be allergic to; Ragweed, Cedars, Tallgrass, Mold, and other various pollens.

Not being negative but, if your Hispanic it not a good idea because of the new law, it does not matter if you were born in the U.S. (Profiling). On the other hand the desert is beautiful certain times of year. Also there are some great buy's on homes. The sunday evening new's stated that Arizonia has lost 100,000 resident in the last few year's.

1.If you are hispanic it doesn't matter because the cops can't check your id unless you're already stopped.
2.Anybody that gets stopped by cops already gets asked for id. My brother was in a car accident last friday and the cops asked for his id. And he's WHITE.
3. There's so many hispanic's here that the notion that cops are going to stop them all is beyond stupid, not to mention the fact that lots of cops are hispanic. The cops have enough real crimes going without stopping people without cause.
4. Profiling is prohibited by the bill, and if you think "they'll do it anyway", guess what? Any cop that would profile is already doing it.

Now now now. Don't go throwing logic at 'em. People who believe the lies don't *use* logic.

It never ceases to crack me up how saying "illegal immigrant" seems to only rile up the hispanics. Hmm....I seem to remember an old saying...something about the guilty dog barking first.

I figured it would stir up the pot, yes there is profiling, I was in Federal Law Enforcement for 23 year's. Sometimes it the only way to get the job done. Chill out guy's. I like Arizonia and enjoy playing gold there.

No offense. What you said was mild, it's just that hearing this state compared to nazi's (i believe 6 million people got murdered in Germany) has made me sick. There's actually been more protesting of the bill in L.A. and Dallas. In fact there were protesters here bused in from L.A.
The cops already question people that are "suspicious". The first night i moved here i was driving around at 2 in the morning looking for my friends house, and the cops pulled me over. My friend pulled up, the cops realized i wasn't doing anything wrong and let me go.
The sad thing is a lot of the people that come in illegally get abused by the smugglers. A lot of the people who speak out on open borders don't seem too concerned about that side of it.
