boosting octane

the other night i was talking to a lab tech i work with, and thru out our conversation i asked what can i add to my gas to boost octane. he told me tolulene or isooctane. he told me that the tolulene will boost it 5 points or more, and the ratio is 1 gallon of tolulene to 10 gallons of gas. he said the isooctane is pure octane. when i get a chance i'm going to talk to the lab manager and get more information about this.

there are ton's of formula's you can use online. Tolulene is just one way, there are others. Usually, you have to buy a good quantity to make it worth your while. Also, more octane means nothing without a tune to take advantage of it.

You're better off finding a gas station around you with higher octane gas. To make a real difference, you will need a lot of a given additive. Why are you looking to increase the octane?
