gearing is why a torqueless wonder 96-98 cobra can run 11's with a stock short block. bolt-on 96-98 cobra = 315rwhp/270rwtq shifting at 7000rpm. torque is not technically how any work(racing) is performed. work performed over time is called horsepower. the low end torque your ls-3 makes calculates to hp. (work performed over time) he who does the most work in the shortest amount of time wins the acceleration battle with all other things being equal. add gearing to increase the amount of tire patch pulling, and you get the winner. a 5.0 properly geared will do exactly the percentage (more or less) of actual acceleration that it's gearing and power curve compared to an ls-3. if any motor does the same amount of work over time as another, but it does it at higher rpms, and is geared to take advantage the higher rpm motor will do more actual pulling. but if the motor with less rpms and more torque does more work over time(hp) it wins. torque in itself does nothing to anything. its just basic physics.

Off topic Assasinator but 32,980 is a hell of a deal for the GT w/3.73s and the brembo brake package.
The first time I played with the configurator(sp?) before it went public I was under the impression you had to get the premium package to get the brembo brake package. Glad I was wrong. |

a really gearing optimized SS, should be able to minimize the weight disadvantage a little.

I'd like to have seen attempts for the other two, just out of curiosity.

It'd be nice to see some confirmed production car runs. I wonder how much of what we've seen has been preproduction models. I still think the 'Stang might pull ahead a bit, and that it's going to be a driver's race, but bench racing is all about tenths, lol.

I am with you on wanting to see what customer/production cars put down on the dyno and run at the track.

remember that. we'll se how close to 500rwhp a coyote gets. you may be suprised how much that 200 lbs matters.

Sorry but I guess your lack of knowledge of the LSx motors is showing here. Stock intake. (By intake I am referring to a CAI in my original list) Stock rocker arms. Stock TB. Stock pushrods. Stock lifters. Stock MAF. Stock fuel pump. Stock injectors. Stock valves. Stock timing chain. And yes it is all achievable with cats. It is literally a few bolt on's away with ported heads and a tune. Sorry to burst your bubble. No need to put words into someone's mouth.... |

still, $4,000+ for only the things you listed + gaskets and labor, it doesnt sound like its much of a bargain compared to forced induction, even at 6 or 7 psi edit: or should i say, maybe closer to $8,000 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19873 im sure theres slightly cheaper ways to do it but thats a good ball park figure i think.
