The 5.0 is no where near maxed out in factory form. I will agree that it will take a good bit of money and someone that is knowledgeable on the OHC motors from ford to start getting decent power in NA form.

We have already seen DOHC Ford 5.0L engines making over 500rwhp. Admittedly not the same as the 5.0 going in the GT and these were racing applications. And I readily admit that the 6.2 will make more power with full bolt-ons than the 5.0L. It should it has 1.2L more to work with.

The weight advantage simply means the camaro will need to make around 30 more rwhp than the 5.0 to keep the power-to-weight ratio roughly the same.

I don't plan on going F/I so this is a big deal for me.

Intake
Cam
Ported heads
Exhaust
=
500WHP on the 6.2 and for a reasonable price.

Not going to get that with the 5.0 period. Take the ~200lbs. weight advantage of the Mustang and pencil through it. Not gonna matter. Bolt on vs. bolt on the Camaro will own.

F/I may prove to be a closer match. Time will tell.
I assume you're talking about the LS3 when you mentioned attaining 500 rwhp with the bolt ons that you listed.

I didn't know you can get 590 fwhp (164 fwhp gain) with heads and a cam. That's about a 130 rwhp gain. Intake and exhaust don't add very much. I'm just saying, I think that's on the high side. But I don't know, maybe you're talking about a crazy aggressive heads and cam package. Wouldn't that greatly take away from the streetability though?

Friggin awesome if you ask me...and they claim up to 1000 HP with S/C alone with the 2.8 and 2.8 LC models.

Bottom line, when Whipple and Kenne Bell make their kits for the 2011 Mustang, those cars will be very low 11 second cars with no more than 11-12 psi of boost. Maybe even high 10's with drag radials. That's my prediction.

Not with a s/c alone.

You will need a fully forged rotating assembly and some fuel system work.

But yes the Kenne Bell blowers are amazing.

I know whipple is saying they got a supercharger kit ready to go for the 5.0 that makes 600hp @ 7 psi on pump gas. To much over that and you will need to change out internals.

At that hp the stangs that can get grip should run low into the 11s and possibly high 10s.

Yeah, I've been in a ride in one of them (L99) with a pretty good amount of boost (not sure how much, but more than 9 psi) and it was scary fast. It wasn't loud, it was just throw you back in your seat, lightening fast. And slowing down caused a lot of force. Just crazy.

The site is probably talking about 1000 flywheel horsepower, which when applied to an L99 equals 800 rwhp. And I know of someone that has taken their Kenne Bell kit on a stock L99 up to like 16-17 psi of boost on race gas and ran a 10.9 quarter mile, which would have been 10.5 corrected. So, it's possible, but not safe for longevity.

That's insane. I know this is kind of off subject, but when I think of 826 rwhp, I wonder how safe it is to drive on city streets. What happens if you quickly try to pass another car and there is kind of good amount of traffic. Wouldn't you just roast your tires and turn sideways with even half throttle?

LS3 yes and streetability is just fine. Nothing radical. Texas Speed has done this along with several other vendors on this site. Daily drivers.

Intake is good for 15WHP
Exhaust is good for 35WHP
Cam is good for 80WHP
Porting is good for 25WHP

This is all with a tune. Pretty easy to get 500WHP with those mods. Picking the correct combination is critical.

Haha!! Yeah, but surprisingly this car made a good number of passes and experienced some pretty hard driving and the engine didn't break. Pretty crazy if you ask me.
