Spend your money on driving around and hanging with friends instead of waisting your life on games...?

Nick, if you don't use your 360, I'll take it off your hands, especially if it's got a hdd bigger than the 20gb on mine.
I would give it to you Jay but I'm keeping it around until Gears of War 3 comes out. That's the only reason I've held onto it.

I'm on my 2nd, I had my first one for 2.5 years with 0 issues. Then I forgot to open the cabinet door that it sits in and I was wearing headphones. My daughter came out and opened the cabinet because the fan was REALLY loud but I hadn't heard it because of the headphones. Within a week it was dead. Microsoft fixed it for free, but I got a new elite and now it sits on top of the cabinet. I can't really say I've had bad luck because I think that was my fault.

My understanding is that the newer ones are quite a bit more reliable then older ones. I've also heard that people with bad power have pretty bad luck.

I'm not sure how you can refer to that because everything you can do or get on XBL you can do on PSN for free (the only difference being obviously the exclusive titles for each system). Movies purchases and rentals, fullgame downloads, game DLC, netflix, etc, and even a complete "Second Life" type game world (Playstation@Home) with your own avatar you can use to meet people to play games with. The only thing that sucks is the download speed is kinda slow although it has gotten faster over the past few months.

I've heard that the party system on PSN leaves a lot to be desired I've never played a PS3 except for at a demo booth before, so I myself can't confirm or deny that. However, the party system on the 360 is good (I won't say great because there are still plenty of bugs every now and then).

You have the cross game chat option (open a chat session with a friend and talk to him, even if the two of you are playing different games)

The game/party invites are nice (if you're not currently playing the game you got invited to, accepting the invite will automatically launch the game and put you into the party, ready to rock - as long as you have the game disc in the xbox)

Xbox Live parties enable you to talk to multiple friends, who could be playing different games, and you can shoot a game invite to all the people in your xbox live party to quickly get a match of whatever together.

Again, every now and then something messes up with those, but they are very nice when they work. Does PSN have similar functionality?

I've got one of the very first 360s released, bought it at a PX over in Okinawa. It lasted up until last year and then got the infamous RRoD. Got it repaired in about 3 weeks or so and haven't had any issues with it sense.... other than the cooling fan seems to be permanently set on high now, cuz that thing is loud as hell! I do wish they had better build quality, but I absolutely love the 360 controllers, the games available for it, and the Xbox Live service.

i am on my 3rd or 4th 360, lost count, always repaired under warranty (RROD every time). Just sucks having to wait 3-5 weeks for the repair to be completed.

To be honest I'm not totally qualified to answer that question because I don't really use those features. I have few friends with game systems and the ones that do play a lot of FPSes which I can't play because I get vertigo from them.

You can message eachother in game no matter what you're playing, I am not sure there is a chat client but maybe. Also you can send multiplayer invites to any user from any game which they can accept and start the game up with.

It sounds like the xBox system is proabably better for that but the PSN system is not so flawed that its crippled, its just not as advanced.

I don't play online so live is not an issue with me. I enjoy playing through campaigns solo or having friends over to play. IMO the PS3 is a much better console for the money. The blu-ray alone makes it worth it.

Ok, yeah I could definitely agree with the last statement there. And I should probably clarify: the chat sessions I am referring to are all voice chat. Very nice for just chatting with your buddies online and such.

Anywho, the $50 per year for the Xbox live service seems worth it to me, as I take full advantage of all it's abilities on a regular basis. I can see where someone who only plays online once in a great while wouldn't want to bother with it though.

I forget, did they say the 2010 Camaro was going to be in that one?
