My bosses are really smart too! But I like hearing stories of other peoples' who aren't. Makes me love my job even more!

Your boss has never actually watched a venus fly trap has he they don't lunge, they have tiny hairs in their mouths (for lack of a better word) that trigger the plant to close when they are irritated no concious decision there at all.
