Or get it's sister, the nightster. This is mine. I absolutely love this bike. Might not be for a beginner though - to get the low look the suspension is chopped and as a result is VERY rigid. Hitting a bump in the road in a hard corner can make the bike pretty upset....as well as my kidneys. But I love it.

Just stirring it up.
![]() Get a hot dual sport for the occasional ride. KTM 525 EXC with knobbies will keep up with most street bikes off the light due to weight and you can still play hard on trails. If you really want to have fun, go with the Super Motard config. IMHO - Too many idiot drivers out there for a mainly street ride. At least the Camaro offers some crash protection. No diss to the street bike riders, but I just don't trust the oversized pickups (I have one) with drivers without a clue. |

You will love it. My last bike was a VROD VRSCD nightrod. Just do NOT install any kind of exhaust that requires a piggy-back FMS like a power commander. Had one on mine that the stealership screwed up, ruined the whole bike. Started a whole train of electrical issues that finally forced me to sell it. Loved it though. The power will blow you away. Plus they have ABS and bigger motors (1200 cc) now which they didn't offer when I had mine (1130cc)

That black/silver one is nice, I like it better than the one with the bigger front tire. Actually looked at one a couple weeks ago but it was orange/black. Really nice looking.

Check out the Kawasaki Vulcans, either 750 800 or 900 for your first bike, I started on used Vuclan 750, it was 5 years old and picked it up for 2500 bucks, ran great...I now drive a 1600 mean streak SE. Started on a used cheaper bike incase I droped it and what not

a cbr600 in the 8"s no way... not in the 1/4, and a 1000gsxr in the 8;s doubt that as well, unless its mod'd pretty heavy mid 9's ok maybe MAYBE. and i OWN one, road raced for quite a few years etc.
as for the 600 sportbikes being capable... yep, sure are!!!!! honestly bikes are sooooo much more about rider skill, that honestly a very well ridden 250 ninja will spank a decently ridden gsxr1000 on a race track. dont believe me, go look up lap times, lol. as for the original poster, get a bike ya like, thats not too big, and get GOOD GEAR. you have fun on the bike, but its the gear that may save your life. keep yours eyes open and have fun!!! |

a 600 in the 8s would be heavily modded. you can get a 1000 in the 8s but it is going to take a hell of a rider and the bike will have to be slammed. And that would be in a perfect scenario.

To the op, honestly you have to lean into any bike.
I love HDs and have one myself, but I don't think cruisers make very good FIRST bikes. The ones pictured only have about 3 inches of fork travel and <2 inches of rear travel plus they steer wide. Plus they're heavy. Every new rider dumps his bike once or twice. If they can't get it back on it's wheels quick they get really flustered and nervous. For a first timer I would recommend a used bike like one of these: Yamaha wr250x Suzuki drz400sm Here's why: They are very light (about 300lbs wet) They are very maneuverable They move quick enough but not scary quick They have massive suspension which is great for newbies * The side parts are mainly plastic and easy to replace if dropped They sit you upright so you have good vision * The massive suspension is great for newbies because little things like potholes just get rolled right over, where as they can really upset or even damage a cruiser. Just my 2cents. I think a HD is great after you get some experience though. |

^ That's why I was looking at the honda Rebel, though I'm leaning more heavily towards the V Star 250 now. Lighter weight bikes (around 330 lbs or so wet), just as maneuverable, but lower to the ground then the ones you posted so I'll have a lower center of gravity. Thanks though
