Why are we racing Tuner cars vs factory cars?
Can I pull the price excuse? |

I dont think it makes sense to run the SS vs the shelby, so the shelby wins in that category, and the only contender right now for the shelby are tune cars, UNTIL the z28 is finally out, then we have some proper price comparison/competition

I also don't think it is fair to compare tuner cars to factory cars. Now tuner GT500s to tuner Camaros would probably be a lot better of a comparison. |

Yup... gotta love it.
History will repeat itself and the EPA will come crashing down at some point. Stock 400 + HP that the aveage joe can afford is a lovely thing!

In the comparison I read (Motortrend) they compared equally valued cars. Hennessey Camaro vs GT500 Supersnake. Hennessey Camaro - $74,672, (11.9 @ 121.3 mph) GT500 Supersnake - $84, 390, (12.0 @ 120.1 mph) And the Hennessy Camaro dominated on the road course. |

" The improved launch and smooth Second gear exchange got us to the stripe in 10.870 seconds at 134.14 mph. We were in the 10s with 4,120 pounds of Shelby Mustang in full street trim, and with the engine gulping 93-octane pump gas." This was Evan Smith on a tire in a 2008 Super Snake. |

I took a look at the Motor trend comparison after posting the above and what I explain is exactly what you see. By the 30mph mark the Mustang already has a .3 second lead on the Camaro, I'm guessing the Chevy isn't hooking up as well off the line allowing the Mustang to put a few tenths on the Camaro right away. Given what the rest of that acceleration info shows, I would also guess that the Mustang is geared a little better for the engines power curve as well, which is possibly how we end up with a .4 second gap by the end of the 1/4 mile. |

Yes, it would as it would change the scenario for every car, as some here have already discussed. Well, to be honest, if it was an optional gear set in the transmission that didn't change anything else about the car I'm not sure if they would have to. I'll have to check into that with some old friends.

I even said myself I thought a change in tranny gear ratio would require a re-cert because it would effect all Camaros. |

All I can say after reading these 1,000 threads is when moding starts the Stang will need to go with a Supercharger to keep up. When any on the new 5.0's hit the road ..get out of the way of my 6.2.. another important point is the Camaro looks much better. ... I just said this to get the Rustangs blood going.... really The SS looks great and is too plenty fast on the Street and if Ford drops a larger Engine in to stop the bleeding from Camaro sales so be it.. I don't feel the need to defend the Camaro if the Ford stock for stock can now run equal with the SS.. to each his own.Plus there always has and and always will be the Chevy and Ford rivalery which is good..no need to get nasty.
