In my neck of the woods, I'd say there's a balanced proportion of muscle to tuner, and an equally unhealthy proportion of ricers. But mostly, there are more ricers in the past decade because they shut down the only strip on the island (but there are plans for a new track).

In defense of the import enthusiasts, they DO know how to make their car better and faster in a practical way. Unfortunately, imports have gotten so damn hyped-up with movies like F&F, that almost any fool with money would want to make their car LOOK or SOUND fast or "DUB," what, with 24s, spinners, and coffee can exhausts. It's just the fad. It'll pass. I'm sure there'll be ricers in the future where people try to make their on-road only car LOOK like it can fly with portable fans on each fender and a flux capacitor in the backseat. There are ricers and then there are real gearheads. No matter what preference they have, 8-cyl., 4-cyl., 4 wheels, 2, wheels, AWD, FWD, off-road, on-road. To each his own. But come on, their are d***heads and posers in any popular culture, so what can we do?

That's not really true. I hear guys in the local auto club with big motors talking about hp/liter. Especially when you have similar sized engines from different manufacturers. They go on and on about it.

Still believe you should have more ccs in the motor than in the exhaust tip!

my mom drives a Honda Civic and I don't think she is a d***head

but then again, she doesn't have a stupid sounding exhaust or any other ricer add ons. it is just a bone stock Civic. if she did have any of that stuff, then maybe i would have to change my opinions

Hmm. I wonder if people would think I'm a ricer because I have a flowmaster delta 40 tucked up under the car (03 Hyundai Accent). I got it because the original muffler got some rust holes and started to sound real buzzy. I asked the dealership how much it would cost for a replacement and they quoted me like 250 before labor. I took it to the local muffler shop and they put the 40 on for 130 installed. Its a bit louder than the original, but it doesn't have the buzz or anything.
- X

P.S. - and no, the muffler does not stick out; its tucked up in the same location as the stock muffler and has a small turn down tip on it. You can't see it unless you crouch down behind the car.

You can't drive yet so that would just make you a Ricer Jr.
