wow. oh man i can see i tnow, stang guys all over will citing that vid as proof, lol. while the gt is certainly no slouch, ANYONE who watches that vid and takes it as proof - needs glasses. i mean really could the ss driver have been anymore asleep at the lights? i am down here in socal, i am not the best driver by far, but i have a funny feeling i could launch better than that! hell i leave red lights faster than that.

sad to see alot of the camaro guys being hypocrites. when the camaro came out dodge guys were saying a year after and the ss isnt that much faster? and the chevy guys jumped on us saying that's not an excuse. same thing with the mod comments. "we are talkin stock vs stock" is all i heard. now the same guys are saying the same things dodge guys said. lol give credit where credit is due. ford finally made a fast gt after a long drought.
good job ford, hope dodge and chevy step it up.

Just watched the vid I call complete, utter, 100% BS. Whoever was driving the Camaro was asleep on the lights or afraid of a hard launch, I've seen t0o many vids of L99 getting off the line MUCH quicker than that to believe it.

"Oh the race starts once he's ahead of me? Ok Wilber." I'll give it this though, the 5.0 had some good launches. It seems like it's a car Ford build specifically to beat the 2010 CAMARO. Fords requirements for the new 5.0: Beat the Camaro! And you all better not come out of that lab until it's done. But was that SS even broken in? I mean Jesus Christ, my L99 has 350is rear wheel and pulls harder than that one did. I made sure the first day I got my car I red-lined it up to the limiter; many times. I broke my car in hard and got good results. That Mustang is definitely going to be some competition, but launching can be the determining factor in a race. The SS and the 5.0 would have probably been damn near dead even if the SS had a better driver and a good launch. But why are these Ford Fanboys going nuts that Ford finally built a car than can muster some respect out of musclecar loyalist when all they're doing is comparing a 2010 model to a 2011 model car!? THINK ABOUT IT. Your comparing a 2010 car to a 2011 car. Wait until 2011 when those Camaros come out, then if it does the same thing twice in 2011, I'll give Ford it's props. Then mod my car and take them away. Oh and blackZ, I love your car,....it looks sick! All it needs is limo tint.

Awesome reading for sure, but all I have ever read states that James Watt estimated the force the mill horse used to turn the wheel. Some argued about what kind of force. Some argued about the number given. I have yet to read anything that says his number is dead on accurate. Actually, I see where you say somewhat the same thing, lol. When did the number become definitive? I could have very well missed something. I'll agree that using the standard equation given, horsepower can be measured, as a derivitive(< I know I butchered that spelling, lol) of torque. Which, again, is what I've understood to be what chassis dynos actually measure. To be honest, I can see the Mustang making 425. It makes much more sense to compete with the big dog of Camaro, not fall in between them. Yet, the track numbers hint at the 412 number, and weight savings, gear ratio, overcoming the extra horsepower. I guess in the end, I still call bs on the dyno pull, lol. My experience lends itself to the fact, in my case, my car throws up bigger numbers in lower gears compared to 1:1. I think that they need to redyno the car in 5th, and set the record straight. Also, quick props to rayhawk and syr74, way to keep this discussion way above board. I've enjoyed it, even if I'm proven to be wrong in the end, lol! |

when your not using 91octane. i think the debating is over, the mustang GT is fast and will provably will reach faster times, just like the camaro did. i think ford just wanted to beat the SS and the best effort went on the v6. just look a the performance numbers, the V6 totally outclass the maro's v6 and set the bar higher. competition rocks

best thing is my dad is a HUGE mustang guy and i showed him the vid and he pasued it and said WTF is the camaro sleeping or what, and plus why are the comparing diffrent year cars? Either way i like the looks of the camaro so so much more. But lets give them some time to be ahead i mean we are still out selling them for how many months now...

I wouldn't say all is lost, very impressive showing from the 5.0 in that video. I'd still wait till we get a larger sample of real world results before any final judgment is passed. Mustang could really be that good, but there are too many variables to say from sure from one race.
Driver mod can be a killer even on an auto. Not only did the Camaro driver seem to not have it, but the Mustang driver seemed to have lots of it, excellent launches both times. If anything I bet with a solid axle out back the Mustang is going to be much more consistent than the SS. |

I would say they should have used about 12 - 13 % loss on the manual ... The camaro manual is typically around 15% with the IRS and much more for the auto car. I know that sounds high, but from all of the shops that have posted here, this is pertty much what they are all saying. From my stock dyno, I would say it is pretty much in line as well .. Crowley
