Im thinking they tweaked a little extra out of the GT for the Media, considering the dyno numbers are so far above the Ford claimed numbers.

Fair enough, I'm still skeptical that a stock Camaro can run 12.5's, especially since I've known a couple of the guys who have put up miraculous 'stock' C5 and C6 times and have a deeper understanding of how that all went down, but I tend to keep things like that to myself for the sake of politeness. Was I? I genuinely don't recall that. And as for the GT not spanking the SS, the only measure left is for the new GT to throw another couple of tenths on the acceleration advantage to make it a very clear win in every respect since handling numbers are extremely one-sided in this comparison.

LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY.

THE CAMARO HIT 12.9 AND 13.0 IN ITS FIRST TESTS ALSO. WHEN HAVE THEY EVER RE TESTED AND RE TESTED? Most mags didnt even give the camaro much credit...let alone give it several solid runs. What we usually heard is "should have been faster with 426 hp" If anything from the sounds of how biased the article in motor trend was...they ran the crap out of that mustang to beat the camaro by .1 for all we know.

And if it does run a 12.7 in a mag? is that really worth bragging about over .2 tenths?

The camaro has a very solid 6.2 under the hood that can make 500rwhp with nothing but a cam swap and supporting mods.

No matter which way you cut it the camaro will hold its own just fine.

Both are solid cars man. I understand you like the mustang. Most of us like camaros. We can no longer pick on the little GT...it is more than a good match for the new camaro.

Lets agree to disagree and not cause a pissing match.

The Camaro did not hit a 12.9 on it's first run in any of the mainstream auto rags, and mainstream auto rags typically do not run as well as publications like PHR and Hot Rod.

Thus far mainstream auto rags (and Edmunds) are all we have and as such I'm keeping it as apples to apples as I can.

Unless the tests were done at the same time in the same place with the same drivers it is hard to compare the test results of the Camaro and Mustang even in the same magazine. Until we get a head to head test done together it will be hard to really compare the two.. On paper the Mustang should have the advantage, and probalbly will.. so before passing judgement lets all take a and wait...

PHR hit 12.9 at 112 trap first try with the camaro.

Motor trend hit 12.9 in its first test against the GT500.

One other mag got a 12.9 first try also...but im not going to go look for it. We are splitting hairs here. The cars are neck and neck. The mustang is a solid performer.

hmmmm... 13.7 is a quite a bit quicker than I would have guessed... 400 pound difference is about .4 difference in the 1/4 mile... cars have basically the same HP/TQ... I would have thought the Mustang would have been low 14s or high 13s... not 13.7...

Now based on my time slips, I've been kind of wondering if I should have been getting better ETs based on 60' times and trap speeds... really makes me wonder now!

Going to be interesting to say the least!
