What stocks are you guys investing in right now?

I'd like to dump some money on some stocks. I've got some free trades through my brokerage account.

What are your recomendations?

Gold

I'm hoarding as much gold as I can.

If you know what you're doing you can buy it off of people who need money. Ask anybody, gold will never go down in value and you can resell it for more to collectors and such

This will sound like a silly question, but can you buy gold through a brokerage account?

I'm about to drop such genius advice right now just because I don't think many of you will follow through with it anyway.

In about 5 years, or now even. start investing in any type of care providing services for the elderly, group homes etc. The baby boomers generation is not far off from hitting elderly ages, thus they are all going to need care. Expect to see a boom in related stocks as companies start raking in cash taking care of the new elderly.

Yes you can buy into Gold ETF's (Exchange-Traded Fund's)

Here are some of the most popular gold ETF's.
(GLD) SPDR Gold Trust
(IAU) iShares COMEX Gold Trust
(DGL) Powershares DB Goldfund
(UBG) UBS E-TRACS CMCI Gold Total Return

Be Careful with gold, it usually acts like a hedge bet against the dollar.
With the Economy on its way to "recovery" I would say Gold prices are going to go down. That's just my Opinion.

But yes "2000v6" is right, if you know people willing to sell thier gold jewelry on the cheap, buy it, you cant go wrong, unless its fake gold jewelry. (that's what I always have been afraid of)

I happen to know a guy who happens to own a jewelry store. I always have the gold appraised by him and make sure that it's real. We both offer the seller a good deal, but I always offer that 20 dollars more. It's not like that 20 dollars is going to kill me or anything, and people are always willing to take more money.

And personally, I haven't seen that much of anything going on to really make me believe that the economy is on the way to recovery. I mean the recession is over, but once I start seeing more activity then yeh, I'll stop buying as much gold as now.

I'm thinking about having the gold melted down and molted into 20" rims for one of my cars. It's still gold either way but I doubt that I'll actually do it.

And yeh, the four ETFs that are listed are the best places to go buying gold from.

And the baby boomer stocks are a great idea. Another good idea are stocks from companies that have scientists, researchers and doctors working towards finding a cure for cancer, alzheimers, etc. Everyday we are moving closer toward finding the cures, and once they get out on the market, the stocks from these companies will skyrocket.
