I love how people think it is such a big deal that the Mustang beat the Camaro by 1hp and 1mpg (on the V6). Not to mention they are comparing a 2011 Mustang to the 2010 Camaro...how about we wait for specs on the 2011 Camaro and then we'll see.

Actually the ls3/l99 can run 91 with no timing pull. 91 isnt low octane.

Well I cant speak for the ls3 with proof, but I data logged mine...with running 91 octane. 0 knock retard or timing pull throughout the whole powerband.

you know there are a lot of naysayers on this board saying that Chevy isn't going to make any significant improvements on the 2011 model, but if they want to beat out Ford hands down, they may just have to add a few HP or reduce some weight... Either way, I can't wait to see what the 2011 Camaro brings to the table. I am still planning on buying the 2011 model, either way, but it would be nice to have bragging rights that my car is still faster hands down

The big thing with the Mustang is, with the manual anyways, is the option of three different rear end ratios, I think if it has the 3:31s I would say they will be just about even with the Camaro possibly a slight edge depending on the power curve on the 5.0 and how much/how well it puts it down. With the 3.55s I think it will be a drivers race, with the 3.73s I'd give the GT the edge, now if the Camaro gets a 3.73 option for 11 it could be a game changer again.

When it was first announced that the 5.0-liter engine was making a return to the 2011 Ford Mustang, none of us here at Autoblog were really that concerned with the fuel economy. We were all about the horsepower, and at 412 ponies underneath the hood, the 5.0 doesn't disappoint. Ford, however, was thinking about appearances and earth-hugging as well, and managed to make the 2011 Mustang even more efficient than the 2010 model despite all that extra extra power. According to the numbers released today, the new Mustang GT gets 17 miles-per-gallon city and 26 mpg highway with the six-speed manual and 18/25 mpg with the six-speed automatic.

These numbers are not only a huge improvement from the 2010 Mustang with the 4.6-liter V8 (15/23 mpg w/manual, 15/22 mpg w/automatic), but they also best the figures achieved by the Chevrolet Camaro SS - 16/24 mpg when equipped with a manual and 16/25 mpg with the automatic. As reported earlier, the 2011 Mustang V6 claims top honors against its Camaro counterpart as well with an impressive 19/31 mpg in six-speed automatic form.

Actually the Mustang makes 412 on LESS than 93 octane. It made that on the midgrade gas, not 93.
