Dismissing my argument because you believe the industry trying to COPY import styling is the correct path. Which it is NOT.

Could not be farther from the truth.

There is a reason why the top 10 of popular music is absolute trash.

At least Caddys have enough balls to have their own style, rather than following the copy train.
The typical buyers of Buicks and Lexus don't want to be bold and daring and unique. The cars reflect that. And your OPINION of the current crop of Buicks is far from the general consensus. Going with unique styling is often polarizing. There will be a few that love it but most want something more normal or some other unique style. The most design with the most appeal is generally the most conventional one. GM would be stupid to ignore that.

To use your music analogy, there might be some independent punk band that is very talented and has a really unique sound. But those who like easy listening will hate it. As will those who like hip-hop, country, pop, classical, dance/club, and so on. Thats fine if you are in it to be an artist, but if you want to become rich and famous, chances are slim that it will catch on.

Oh yeh, when it comes to music, you need to be explosive and willing to sign with someone big. Otherwise you are going to remain underground and nobody will buy your albums.

Instead we get a car that looks like and sounds like a import. From the front headlights to the wrap around tail light boxes and the disgustingly overused V shaped trunk. Established or not, it is not worthy of the malibu nameplate. And the sad thing is that the impalla is worse. =(

Personally, I love the 2010 Malibu parked in my driveway, next to my Camaro. It's a great car, inside and out.

I think most have hit it right on. Sales and profit drive this industry, and the Malibu, in it's current form, is helping GM achieve those goals. So I'd say you are in the minority with that opinion, and from what I gather, a very small minority indeed.

The renderings of the new Malibu look pretty damn good I think!
