Adjusted Box Office

Avatar is #14 when previous movies are adjusted for inflation. Its cool to see that Star Wars is #2.

Speaking of Jesse James...

Back in the early 80's, my car was in the shop to get a new engine put into it (73 Dodge Charge SE). While in the shop, the 440magnum needed to have a power steering bracket made for it. My car got sent to Jesse James shop for that.

Unfortunately, the owner of the shop doing the engine work shot and killed a guy coming at him with an ice pick. Apparently he owed Jesse James some money, and couldn't pay him during the week he was held in jail.

Jesse James took my car stereo, wheels and tires and ran the new 440 magnum without oil, destroying the engine. A-hole.

When the owner of the shop was let out, on self-defense, he had to buy me new tires, a new car stereo and replace the 440 that was destroyed by Jesse James.

I thought he was a bodyguard before he opened his first shop in the 90's? Him and Sandra live here and everything I've heard about them has been that they're pretty cool people.

As for the oscars, I was so happy Hurt Locker won. Avatar was technically great, but Hurt Locker is the best post-WW2 war drama I've seen in a LONG time.

And it kind of bothered me that people who won awards were given such a short time to deliver their thank yous, but Ben Stiller (as funny as his bit was) was on stage for 5 minutes before he even introduced a category.
Yeh but honestly, they really don't need more time. I mean it's kind of like "thank you to my family, thanks to the people I work with, and thank you to my fans without you this wouldn't happen", after a few people say the same thing, it becomes redundant

Secondly it was fitting that hurt locker won, because they always give it , these days, to stuff nobody wants to see.
And just think if Cameron won best director. They didn't give Scorsese that till like a year ago, and Spielberg has only won once.
If Star Wars didn't win, i sure as hell didn't want avatar to win.
You think no one wants to see the Hurt Locker?

1% of the country? It's made the least money of any Oscar Winner.
Just making a point. Do you remember what won last year? Or the year before? Or the year before that?

Oh your one of those, whoever spends the most money on advertising should get the Oscar people

Anyways the people who vote on the awards are directors, producers, writers, actors and other professionals who grade the movie out by more than just how many people the advertising convinced should go to the movie.

Let me guess.... Never Saw Hurt Locker huh?

I'm not one of anything. And i don't think what made the most money should automatically be Best Picture. Every year at the Oscar's they put on a big show and try to invoke Old Hollywood, while at the same time there's a great divide between Art and Entertainment these days, that there didn't use to be.
You know what was shown on tv sunday? Saving Private Ryan. When was the last time Shakespeare in Love was shown on tv ? That's what won the Oscar that year. I'm not against the Hurt Locker. I'm saying there's a trend every year, more and more and more, that whatever wins is so artistic, that the general public doesn't hardly see it.

I saw Hurt Locker by accident on Sunday. I thought I was seeing Crazy Heart. Hurt locker was great.

The person who wrote the screenplay for Hurt locker, very likely knew well in advance that if his movie was done right, it would win an avalanche of awards due to it's political nature.

So you're against the general public? What if some of us don't want sophisticated movies and just wanted to see mind numbing explosions and blue people riding dinosaurs?
