More importantly to sales, imho, is the Mustang's appeal to NON-Mustang followers....

2011 hmmmm....

The 2011 mustang is getting that new 5.0l engine and it'll make 400-415? hp
The Challenger srt8 is getting "refreshed" for 2011 and its getting a 6.4l with at least 450hp.

Now I'm pretty sure that a car that has been out for almost a year is not gonna get redesigned, or get a new engine..

But do you think that there might be a performance package (something like a Z51 corvette) for the camaro later on in 2011, just to give the camaro an edge over the others??

Oh yea, I'M waiting "patiently" for that something...

But for a lower price tag than a Z28, maybe they could add something similar to this

Quote:
Z51 Performance Handling Package
Includes power steering cooler, engine oil cooler, transmission oil cooler, stiffer springs and stabilizer bars, upgraded shock absorbers, larger brakes with cross-drilled rotors, upgraded tires and Z51 specific manual transmission.
but specifically made to make the camaro handle better and make it "a little" quicker

I don't know. You have to remember where the Camaro slots with the Corvette. If they bump the Camaro power, they have to bump the Corvette. The base Vette=430hp. But then they have the ZO6 at 505hp. I don't think they want to move the base car up close to the ZO6. So, more than 10-15hp is hard for me to see. Unless they bump the
ZO6 up as well a little.
Plus you have to remember more power might equal lower gas mileage, and i don't think they can do that.
The Challenger is a little irrelevant, because it ways so much more to start with.

Don't forget power to weight, the Camaro is WAY heavier than the Vette (yes, it, like the Challenger, is a bit of a porker), they would have to add over 100 HP to the SS to even scare the Z06. IMHO, they could makethe dry sump LS3 from the Grand Sport, maybe as some kind of track package on the SS, do that and stiffen up the suspension and optional 3.73 gears, and BAM, something that can be done fairly easily, and effectively.

I see what you mean, maybe they'll just add a handling package then

At this point, I think the 2011 challenger is going to be even heavier than it already is, which just doesn't make sense..

I doubt it, the new engine should be as lighter or lighter than the 6.1, also they are supposed to have a new rear suspension in the 11 CHarger that should find it's way into the CHallenger and may be lighter also.

If it's lighter I don't expect it to lose more than 100lbs if that

Yes, and I'll bet there will be a package that you can get for your 2010 model ordered from the dealer.

No, I don't know anything, but I was thinking that if they had some suspension upgrades on the 2011 that they would be available to order from the dealer for the 2010's. I don't see anything in the way of performance changes for 2011, but a suspension upgrade option(ie track pack for Mustang)
may happen. Hopefully then, that could be ordered through the dealer to upgrade your suspension on your 2010 if so desired.
