LOL, if anything i would say it's the other way around.

At least in my area it is.

All of my motor head friends all are gm guys to the core, they would never consider a ford product. I on the other hand have gone back in forth (92' gt, 01' SS, 11' gt).

And when i started telling them all that i wouldn't be getting the new camaro and instead getting a 2011 gt they were all like no way?!?! and why man ?!?!?

So i would explain my reasons and then they would say things like it's still a rustang and dude ford sucks (the it's still a mustang being the most common).

However when i mentioned that a mustang is nothing other that ford equivalent to the camaro and why they would say the "it's still a mustang" they could never explain themselves.

And these guys are true gear heads they helped me replace the busted ls1 motor in my current ss (they did most of the work, I would have been lost by myself), so it's not like they don't know their cars. I have always just written it off as old fashioned comradery.

Maybe some on this board can explain why the camaro is soo much more of a sports car and the mustang is just a POS.

I actually considered getting SLO5.0 on my license plate and some "Rustang" badges for the hatchback. I decided on the hatchback because that's what most bow tie drivers see anyway.

Oh come on, us Mustang guys would be lost without the constant berating of our cars by the Chevy guys. I just laugh at it because it's meant as a joke 9/10 of the time anyway. I've had my car called everything from an over produced horse apple to the seemingly fan favorite "Rustang". As long as each person is happy with what they drive, screw what anyone else thinks or says.

No one is really sure. Sometimes you just have to accept the world as it is and realize there's little one can do to change it.

I"m sorry...moderator please change thread name to:

Why do some Mustang owners have so much displeasure, anger, hostility, vile (insert your own verb) towards Camaro owners.

There is that better? LOL

Thumbs up

I've been following this thread for a lil' while and its gotten pretty funny.

I know that the moderator closed the last stang vs camaro thread.

with the old 5.slo an old 4.6 out of the way (I actually miss my 96 TBird, flowmasters always sound nice on the 4.6).
the new 2011 Mustang 5.0 is impressive on paper I cant wait to see it on
the streets.

The shelby 350 that was featuered in Motor Trend is freekin beautiful, but the performance is not too impressive for a car that cost almost twice as much as a New SS ($63k+), I'd rather have a CTS-V($62k+) a faster car with crazy creature features. (but then again I'm not a car collector, there's probably crazy rich dummies out there that would spend twice that for a new Shelby 350)

But n e who, the V6 is impressive too, right there with our LLTV6 but 1+hp and 7+tq.

Like I said Before, I was going to wait for the new Stang but I see more than a few of them on my daily drive, The camaro is more rare where I am at. Plus it just freekin' looks way better!!!

I can't speak for anyone else, but I rarely see any 2010+ Mustangs on the roads in my area and I have yet to see another 2010+ GT500 anywhere I have driven, including my trip to Atlanta last week. Granted, as more of them hit the streets that will quickly change in regards to the GT's, but I do not expect it to change in regards to the GT500's.

Ain't that the truth...... even the prior year GT500's were produced in low numbers (i.e. ~3,500 total units in 2009), and I rarely see these.

Done, not sure and doner.

I was on youtube for about an hour last night trying to fall asleep and saw a video that kinda struck me as an important point for this thread.

Motortrend got a lot of hate for pitting the SS against a GT so the pony fans cried out. They then, to appease the ponies, pitted the SS against the gt500, of course the SS lost, but listen to the comments the narrator makes. The SS maybe faster (not enough to run circles, but still) than the GT so the mustang guys had pull out a bigger more expensive weapon on us. I'm sure this vid is old and you've all seen it already, but w/e if I saw it for the 1st time last night, someone else hasn't seen it yet here.

I love both cars so to me this vid was great.

PS Can someone explain how to post a youtube video in a post please?

It's just the internet.

Mature people may joke and rib about brand choice, but in the end you analyze people on a case by case basis.

If someone truly hates me because of what brand I own, then I have no time for them.

Those type of people have been really few and far between in my 38 years of life.
Very true. I don't hate Ford, but I would never buy one. I will also continue to poke fun at Ford owners for being such. This goes to NASCAR rivalries and beyond.

I like Dodge and Chevy..always have. I even (somewhat) respect the Mustang. I've driven them as rentals.

That being said, I would NEVER ever own a Ford. Nuff said.

didnt buy it cause i thought it was rare, it would be dumb to think that these cars will ever be rare because they are very affordable and very popular, just like the stang. I knew they just past the 100k mark also. (just stating that where I am geographically they are more rare which is why i typed "where i'm at") They are both beautiful cars but my major reason for buying the camaro over the stang was that I do like the looks better than the stang plus the warranty is great, plus i just couldnt wait for the new stang with the camaro sitting there looking at me.

I never really been into the Chevy vs Ford rivalry, I have owned 3 of each, a couple chrysler products (2 jeeps and my current dodge), and a few Japanese Imports, In my almost 29yrs alive. So I have no bias toward either. (never had a euro car, maybe in the future??)

Couldnt have gotten a GT500 its not practical for me my Camaro is my DD my last diagnostics from onstar has me at 43 miles per day and I like getting 26mpg on 87 octane. Plus the whole deal of paying another mortgage for a car.

I'll probably have to wait until my kids (4yr old and 6yr old) are out on their own before I really splurge on myself for an vehicle. Right now they are priority #1, as they should be. But, Hopefully everything isn't hybrid or electric by then!:(
