I've heard that Porsche is expected to be hammered pretty hard by the new CAFE laws, worse than most other sports or luxury automakers. There is a 'footprint' scaling factor, where small cars are held to a higher limit than large cars. Since most Porsche's have a relatively small footprint, the 35 mpg average will be closer to 40. Because of this, I see them seriously pursuing either this or similar cars.

Is that why they made this? (no offense to those who like it but, not my taste & i've seen it up close)

I like the Panamera. Not my cup of tea, but its not a bad looking car.

its 300% better driving inside of it. the outside is the weakest point of the panamera but it is sure as hell worth the awkward proportion from the inside of it.

I hate the notion of all 4 door coupes. They look awkward and the name is even more awkward.

Umm ... no. Fastest SUV? Perhaps. But if I'm ever going off road (ie, using it as an SUV not a wagon), I'd rather have your Jeep.
