I've heard that Porsche is expected to be hammered pretty hard by the new CAFE laws, worse than most other sports or luxury automakers. There is a 'footprint' scaling factor, where small cars are held to a higher limit than large cars. Since most Porsche's have a relatively small footprint, the 35 mpg average will be closer to 40. Because of this, I see them seriously pursuing either this or similar cars.

I hate the notion of all 4 door coupes. They look awkward and the name is even more awkward.

Umm ... no. Fastest SUV? Perhaps. But if I'm ever going off road (ie, using it as an SUV not a wagon), I'd rather have your Jeep.
