And there's your problem you brought up your car first. If you got a nice car, wait until they see it, let THEM bring it up about how nice it is, THEN ask if they want a ride but act like it's no big deal.

EDIT: Reading through some more of the thread I saw you say your depressed...

Bro, your 17, you got 2 legs and 2 arms, your not laid up in the hospital and your not stuck living in a studio apartment with your entire family... using the oven as a heater meanwhile all you hear at outside is gunshots and sirens

Everytime your feeling down remember this one thing.... It could always be worse.

Your attitude can change alot, make up in your own mind that your not gonna let things get you down, and that your gonna be more outgoing and friendly or whatever you need to do and youll be suprised

Keep your head up

Well whatever you do dont give up. Hold your head up high and walk tall, who says you cant make a living writing lyrics just depends on what kind of lyrics. People love all kinds of songs. Maybe have to wait on that part but dont ever give up on it. Moving to a new place can also bring out the best in you as well. i know how it is to get stuck in a place you dont want to be. But if you keep trying you will make it out eventually. Good things comes to those who have patience and can wait. Dont put yourself down. As far as the girl goes i think she is pretty cool from the way you talk about her. Its nice to have good friends. Anyways take it easy and the best of luck to you in your journeys ahead. I thought you handled things here pretty good.

You say you have no access to professional help, but if you're set up at home with a new Camaro and funds for college, I'm guessing your parents have health insurance which should cover a visit to a counselor. Contrary to whatever crap you've been told by your genius buds, counseling and possibly medication has helped millions of people. The fact that you don't seem to have a "reason" for being bummed leads me to suspect clinical depression, which sure as hell can be treated.

In the meantime, try Googling forums that deal with your feelings and see where you end up. I always had a lot of problems socially, and specifically hated talking on the phone. One day 2 years ago, I Googled "phone phobic" and ended up on a site about people with Asperger's Syndrome, a high functioning form of autism. I stumbled upon hundreds of people with symptoms just like me! I took some tests and discovered I have it. In my case, there's no cure or medication, but just knowing what the "problem" is, and having people to talk to about it, has improved my life immeasureably.

Sure, maybe you're "just 17" and it'll all work out. Who cares? It can't hurt to find out why you feel like crap now, and do something about it now. Good luck, kid.

To whoever it was...no, not Ladiesman.

Hate to say it, but you probably (perhaps unconciously) did or said something that scared her off. On the other hand, I could be totally wrong and she could just be weird. I don't know you or her so it's difficult to tell.

When you say "from my understanding and from what I've heard" it shows me you are talking to the wrong people. The thing is to find the right person to talk to. Seeking help is like a job in it self. But the right person is out there. At your age I am sure you would be better talking to a professional. I feel that you would be better off talking to a female too. Meds do help. Again the trick is finding the right ones. If you don't try to find them you will never really know if it would help you. Sitting around is also the worst thing you can do. Find something that really keeps your mind off other things. One day like a light switch things will just click on. You might not think so but they will. There are also all kinds of hot lines that you could call just to talk to people about how you feel. Trust me I do know what I'm talking about. I would rather not get to much more into in public. If you need to talk or need help being pointed in the right direction just send me off a PM.

I also would recommend talking to a professional about your feelings of depression. Some level of temporary depression is normal during your teenage years, but if you have been feeling like this for months, please seek help. Medication also can make a big difference with depression if you are placed on the right one. My 2 cents. By the way, I am a pediatrician.
