If you buy the GT500, you'll lose to the Veyron.

I hope you see my point.

No; but gaining a reputation for leaking info before GM releases it means that fewer early surprise tidbits will come our way from GM. And most of us on this site have come to really appreciate the "special" attention and inside info that GM in general and Scott in particular have gifted us with, by being respectful and enthusiastic. That's not saying it's right to not allow dissension, anyone on here can feel however they want about anything, as long as they're respectful of everyone else while doing it. Like I said before, I trust the mods to make the right decisions and it really is simple positive reinforcement-- would you want to continue to give insider info and special opportunities to a site that continually leaked info and made accusations against your company? No. So I think in a way, yes, we are preserving something. We are preserving our relationship with GM by recognizing when something becomes disrespectful to them and acknowledging that we do respect them by stopping it. Dissent all you want, just be respectful about it. There were some flat-out accusations happening in that thread. And you'll notice that all the other open threads (including the political ones!) have people that both agree and disagree, but they're always careful to state that it's their opinion, or to maturely acknowledge the opinion and intelligence of whomever they're disagreeing with.

This was really long but I think it needed to be said. And no, I'm not digging back at you either.

*Edit: Oh yeah, and I think it's also about preserving the atmosphere of this site; we are not harsh-worded people on here and it was starting to come to that.

No. I, nor anyone else here, will go to timeout for not doing our jobs here on this site by GM. But, if you want GM to frequent this site as much as they do now (to get our input, ideas, etc....and even converse with us RIGHT HERE), then you will understand that we, as a whole, want to keep this site a great place for everyone. I 'police' for a living...in real life AND on the boards. In that, not everyone gets what they want. It isn't done to piss anyone off. It is done to prevent problems and keep peace.

I have never seen were the top dog call it Z28 or whatever is NEVER going to come out.

This site is not owned, ran nor does it have any ties to GM. If you think Scott is the only one from GM that visits these sites you are dead wrong. GM has people that do that for a living. It's called the legal department. Their sole purpose in life is to find things like this.
Thank you very much!

Definitely didn't take it as a dig. I appreciate the explanation. Thanks

New to this site, but here's my 2 cents. This site is private, first amendment rights simply do not apply. If you don't like it you can start your own forum and let anybody post anything.

That said, I do not agree with that thread being locked, and I do not agree with his termination. In fact if it were proven that the termination order came from GM HQ I would think twice about buying one of their products.

How would you feel if GM was YOUR company.

I'd feel like a bunch of morons let classified or proprietary information get out. There are many companies that are able to keep secret information under wraps. You can hardly expect to provide that information to tens of thousands of people and not expect it to get out.

Unfortunately it has to be that way. The problem is GM doesn't apply security clearances to everyone that they distribute their information to. How many 10's of thousands of people in the federal government have access to our national security secrets? If you can't use that classified information then what good is it. That means distributing it to those that need it.

As someone who has held a Security clearance since 93. I see this issue in black and white. I've seen people go to federal prison for using an unclassified copy machine to copy classified documents.

Admittedly, my example is a national security matter, not the same as GM. But, if you are willing to receive that information, then you accept the liability of protecting it. regardless of who provides it to you.

That's how I see it.
