Question iTunes store fradulent charges?!?!

Here's my story, if anybody has any experience with this, please help!!!

I logged onto my email today and saw two receipts from iTunes. They had several purchases on them...but I never made these stupid purchases!!! I went to my online banking thinking it was a mistake, but low and behold there were a total of 8 freaking charges there!!!! I immediately called my cc company but they said that since the charges still show as "pending" they cannot start a dispute process. I called Apple and they said they would escalate the situation to see what was going on.

Does anybody have any advice for me? Doesn't great and powerful Apple have the ability to check the MAC address of where these purchases were made from???

You should have the cc company cancel the cc# and issue a new CC & # - indicate to them you will dispute the charges - you should not be liable for them regardless.

Thanks tjd, this was the exact outcome of my dilema! BofA said that I won't have to pay anything and depending on their investigation, they may even make iTunes pay for the charges!!!

I immediately changed my payment info on iTunes to "None".

$400??? Wow, thats a lot to purchase on iTunes. I mean, movies can be $20 but thats 20 movies! Thats more that I've purchased the entire time I've had my iPod touch... My guess is someone figured out your iTunes log in and used it from their iPhone or iPod touch. No verification is required except for the password to the account. They should require you to put in the credit card expiration date or the verification code each time you make a purchase.

Apple and your credit card will take care of you and make sure it gets all worked out. I once thought that this was happening to me, but because I have my parents, my fiance's and my computer, as well as 2 iphones and 4 ipod touches all on my itunes account it's easy to lose track of who's buying what. I gave them all permission to buy whatever they want as long as they don't wrack up a huge bill. When my parents first got hooked up to my account I forgot about them and they bought some things. I called apple, credit cards, my fiance to figure it out. Then parents one day started talking about the music and apps they bought. I felt so dumb. I'm not saying that this is what happen to you but this is just what happened to me.

You should see the crap they bought...and yes, it is crap!!! I still don't understand how somebody figured out my password, i thought it was a strong password but now I see people have too much time on their hands

I think iTunes "assumes" the correct person is purchasing the items, but almighty-Apple should be able to see the MAC or IP address of where the purchases originated from...

Yep, according to Apple, they will work with my CC company to get my money back. Nobody, and I mean, nobody was ever given my password to the iTunes account and no way in effin hell would I ever give my CC # out. if i did, however, find out that it was one of my family members that made these purchases, their gonna get a punch to the back of the head!

Glad to hear it - I use my BofA card exclusively for on-line purchases - they have one of the best processes for handling fraud.
