Coming from a position of a bit more experience and knowledge than most casual internet forum people, I can honestly say nearly all bashing comes from nothing other than a place of ignorance or fear. Therefore, although difficult to do...it should generally be ignored and none of it should be taken personally.
That being said, my first exposure to bashing was when I bought my first muscle car, a 1993 5.0L Fox Body Mustang GT Convertible. I almost immediately started getting hate from the Chevy crowd. It bothered me, and sometimes I did even feel a misdirected resentment towards the Camaro (because of the Mustang haters). However, after the American Musclecar crowd had to endure the rise of the Fast & the Furious generation, I honestly think we banded together, and now an American Musclecar fan is an American Musclecar fan. I see nearly no hatred between the Ford/Chevy/Mopar camps...at least towards each other. The hate is mainly guided at imports and such, but much of that has even gone by the wayside over time. Mostly people just appreciate a nice car, which is the way it should be. Having driven LOTS of Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, SRT8 Jeeps, etc., I can tell you that they all have some really good things going for them. Granted, the way I form my opinions is different than most because all of my opinions are formed after the supercharger install. Stock does not register in my brain. The new (2005+) Mustang is a great platform that becomes a LOT of fun once the blower is installed. They drive and handle great, have good potential, and are much more comfortable than previous body styles. There is a ton of aftermarket support for these cars, and many options are available to purchase already enhanced from a Dealership near you. I have one as my daily driver...you can check it out in my garage. Any Mustang guy who bashes the new Camaro, I would have to ask them "Have you actually ever driven one?" Honestly, they feel very similar to the newer Mustangs in a lot of ways, and supercharged they are AMAZING. These things perform so well supercharged that I have had more than one Vortech Supercharged Camaro driver inform me that their cars are so fast it is scary. The LS3's potential is basically a thing of legend, and additional power gains can be obtained easily. I don't think I need to go into any other specifics on why these cars are great, right? This is a Camaro forum, after all... All of the ST8 cars (Challenger, Charger, Magnum, 300C) are all cool, but to me feel more suited as cruisers. They are spacious, very comfortable, and have the potential to make good power. Once supercharged, they are fast, but deceptively so...you don't notice how fast you are going until you look at the speedo! One great thing about them is that because there are multiple vehicles with the exact same powerplant, Mopar likely has an SRT8 that appeals to virtually everyone. Most people do tend to address the Challenger as the leader of the pack among these offerings, and the Magnum is no longer offered, but can still be purchased used. The one that will surprise you is the SRT8 Jeep. Although even more spacious and comfortable than the other HEMI offerings, once the Vortech goes on they become an incredible snarling AWD beast that will introduce you to a whole different kind of fast. Trust me. Nobody believes me until they ride in one, but they should. We are talking about a vehicle that weighs over 5,000 pounds that will propel you from 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. I suggest taking a ride in a Vortech supercharged SRT8 Jeep if you ever have the chance. My philosophy is just to appreciate a car for what it is, not for what brand name comes stamped on it... |

If Ford hadn't been selling so many Mustangs (call 'em what you will..) in past years, you wouldn't have such a nice Camaro, or maybe none at all..! While I can't say that I'm "loaded" (though I've been on many occasions..), I'm doing OK... When the new Z/28 gets here, I'll seriously consider adding one to the garage. I'd add a new Challenger SRT as well, if only it didn't look so barge-like to me. Maybe they'll shrink it a little. Already got the new Mustangs I'd been wanting...

I usually have no problem with the mustang crowd when talking in person. And usually import owners are ok as well. Dont usually see many dodge people around.
It is when people are not in person (computer) or driving past when they get brave. People can smack talk all they want when they dont have to back it up and or look you in the eye. Hence all the internet garbage. |

i agree with everyone whos sayin that it woud be very boring if everyone drove the same car. Without one, we could not have the other. if the mustang had never come out, then chevy would not have needed to come out with a competing car. i may not like the mustang very much, but i do respect it as a challenge and a worthy opponent. i like the mustang vs. camaro vs. challenger muscle car wars! if we didnt have these three monsters on the road trying to best each other, none of these cars would need to improve itself. so i say lets have some good healthy good-natured competition. WOOT!

THIS THREAD IS STUPID!!! THE FACT THAT IT HAS GONE ON THIS LONG MAKES ME SAD. YOU ALL ARE WASTING YOUR TIME ARGUING ABOUT PURE, UTTER NONSENSE. WHO CARES WHY MUSTANG OWNERS HATE CAMAROS IF THIS CLAIM IS EVEN TRUE. WHY DONT YOU GUYS PUT YOUR ARGUMENTIVE POWER AND FANBOYISM TO BETTER USE? Sound like a bunch of middle school chidren arguing about who's nikes look better.

Hate = Evil, You know one thing, I hate that I went through cancer, but I won. I hated the chemo's, the radiations, the stem cell transplant that was at 35 degrees F. I hate the fact that I spent 5 year battling cancer and there is a chance that I could have another cancer due to the chemo. So, I don't like using the word hate. My grandmother would wash a kids mouth out for using the word hate.
Just my opinion.

I have owned many cars, domestic and imports. I always thought it was stupid that people hate on a car b/c of a rivalry. the best performing cars in the world are not even from this country.
People that like ONLY american muscle are just as bad a guys that like ONLY imports. why is it wrong just to like automobiles in general? I was actually going to wait for the next year's V6 stang to come out (lighter and more powerful than a 2010 V6 camaro), They are beautiful cars. But since stangs are more comman than a civic where i live, i went with the camaro. either everyone here that has a stang has a daily driver or all the camaro owners have garage queens. ![]() And I went w/ the V6 b/c It reminds me of an import, being that it squeezes more hp/liter than your average N/A "american muscle V8." even on 87 octane. The Japanese made aisin warner 6 speed manual matted to the LLT is also great! Currently getting a combined 25mpg is also a huge plus. As far as American muscle goes. gen5 Camaro was engineered in Australia and built in Canada. You can Hate it or Love it... but either way I love my Domestic/Import blend!

Really? The ZR1 isn't on of the best performing cars on the planet? The Dodge Viper doesn't perform with the best cars on the planet? The Z06 doesn't outperform anything in it's price range across the planet? Those are three cars I'd take over just about anything else going, performance, price and feature wise, the Corvettes are hard to top, the Viper is just a plain nasty, street legal race car. And those are just production cars, not super, limited production cars like the Ford GT, the Saleen and a few others. I thought the Aisin was made here in the USA. There is an Aisin plant in Marion, IL, just 35miles north of me. Just saying. |

I think it's the other way around
just look how many mustang threads are in here and go to a mustang forum and you will not even see half as many. |

I would expect you'd find more threads about mustangs on a mustang forum -- but maybe that's because they're talking about camaros
