AHART04: Just punch it, he'll never catch you, your in a CAMARO. (did I say that out loud?)

Seriously: you have great car and there is a time and place to jump on it but the street isnt it. I doubt the cops are "profileing" you or anything like that, theres alot of sporty cars that get stopped for any number of reasons. Try getting on thier side of things...dont give them a reason to pull you over, keep your inspection up, put your front plate on, drive respectably. Go to the track and CUT LOOSE, enroll in a local auto-cross club, or even start one because I am sure there are others who want to experience the thrill of thier cars as well.

I did that here and made it a local fundraiser for families of fallen officers.
Double Bonus: The police see you are doing the right thing and someone benefits from you haveing fun with your friends.
Good luck...

This is the OTHER car.

Faster speeds are definitely much safer. It's the sudden stops that will kill you.

here is your problem, when the officer takes your license and registration, walks back to his car, runs you for wants or warrants and see's that since sept. you have had 2 other speeding violations....and here you are still speeding....you are gonna get a ticket. I've been in law enforcement 19 years, yes attitude matters, but so does common sense. and being caught speeding 3 times in that period is crazy. Not trying to be a jerk but look at the root problem, speeding is breaking the law and why give a break to a guy that is just not learning that through numerous tickets? just saying...

okay I will say it...it is not your attitude that needs improvement, it is your driving habit.

I actually thought it was an ambulance, so I pulled over probably a quarter of a mile ahead of him before he stopped behind me. I was, just as I have been all 3 times, polite, courteous, and cooperative. He promptly wrote me a ticket and sent me on my way..

I have read many threads here where several officers have said attitude accounts for most issued citations vs warnings. I feel that being 23, and having this car, although I work my ass off tirelessly for it, lands me in a situation where I will always get a ticket. I feel a level of resentment in these officers when the pull me over. I feel as though
they must think I'm some spoiled kid who's daddy bought my car and can thusly pay for the tickets.

Here's my question: do you think it would ever help me to ask an officer for some leniency?

I'm just really upset that no matter how polite or cooperative I am, there's never a break. And technically I would be fine with that, because I am, after all, speeding, but I don't feel as though it's fair when I have heard of SO many instances where ppl are warned and released.

I'm not even sure anymore if this is a thread asking a question or just me venting my frustration at what I feel is me being prejudiced over the car I drive. Sigh.

As a cop I can tell you DO NOT ask for a break. The absolutely worst thing you can do is tell a cop "I think I deserve a break"....most of the time, that will just ensure you're cited.

52 in a 40 will get you a ticket with a lot of cops, especially ones who's main job is speed enforcement (He obviously has radar mounted in his car, so that's a pretty big part of his job description I'm guessing).

If you go over the limit you're always going to risk getting a ticket....that's just reality...every cop is different in what they'll ignore and what they won't.

But asking for a break, that doesn't go over well with many of us.

But... the argument that you make as someone said earlier is incomplete. I actually don't completely disagree with the statement that speed in and of itself is the only problem. All things being equal, if everyone is a top notch driver, then higher speeds may not lead to increased fatalities. But all things are not equal. Higher speeds= decreased time for reaction and increased braking distances. An accident by definition cannot be predicted, however its probabilities can be lessened- lower speeds lower the likelihood by allowing for increased reaction time/decreased braking distances.

And someone else also made the argument, that more accidents occur at intersections than on highways, hence accidents are not correlated to speed. But that's comparing apples to oranges. Yes, more accidents happen at intersections, but the question should be, would more accidents occur if the speed limits were raised at those intersections?

Having said all that, I move to increase highway speeds to 80

I got nailed for 75 in a night-time 65 limit in south Texas on Friday. 10 mph over on a deserted major highway probably wouldnt have happened in any other car...

Take your thinking a step further. Instead of enforcing the speed limit at 85 when it reads 70, raise the speed limit to 85, enforce the speed limit at 86, and don't expect everyone to drive that speed. A speed limit should be a maximum, not a place to start accelerating.

The stories you hear are probably a small percentage of all pull-overs. Think of all the people out there who don't share the tale of how they got served a ticket "mercilessly".

But I don't think you should be looking for breaks...I think you might want to work on a way to curb your speeding. :( 3 tickets since September? C'mon, man! Tell me you don't see anything wrong with that? Those officers are just doing their jobs, and every citation is now on your record...and they pull up that record before they ticket you. After the first, there are no "breaks". You're a repeat offender, and they intend to "persuade" you to stop with more tickets.

:(

Tickets are a tax on driving fast... by the law of averages, the more frequently you drive fast, and the faster you drive = more tickets!

I say "Slow it Down"... and be thankfull you didn't get caught all the other times you were driving fast!

Food for thought... I don't think there's a preson here that has talked himself out of a ticket... but there are probably a few that have talked themselves into one!

A Camaro is not a car that only the super rich can afford, I have had 3 C-5 Corvette's and one C-6 Corvette before I had the Camaro. Why do people think we can't afford a nice car?? LOL

Do a burnout and then get pulled over for reckless driving and either cited for it or arrested and taken to jail.
