Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember hearing that automakers try to stay under the 380 hp range (or somewhere around there) if they can because of some tax that they or consumers would have to pay. For example I think this is why the G8 is "de-tuned" to 361 hp even though its 6.0 liters (or it could be because of the cylinder deactiviation on the G8. We now know why the L99 has lower hp #'s). I could be and I probably am way off.

I'm sorry guys, but please stay on topic Please

17% loss?... I think that's a little optimistic (although, I have no proof). Those are more along the lines of a manual car, IMO. FWIW, changing correction factors can alter output numbers too - I'm not suggesting that was done, but every dyno' is different and some more stingy than others. Track numbers are what is important

I believe those numbers. They're pretty good.

Weather and test factors can affect measured output at the wheels. It usually falls between 10 and 20 percent.

The GTO actually measures lower than Corvettes with the same drivetrain. That should give you an idea of the power of what the Camaro will be like. Not much lower. 10 or so horses. That's just from what I've seen so it could be different or it might be the same.

Also, after seeing options and the like. I have a hunch that the 1SS model will be priced in the low 30s. The 2SS will add a few grand more.

2009 intros the re-worked 5.7 Hemi. Hence the increased power. And you can get a six-speed manual now, too.
