Just bring them both home at the same time. Give your wife the new Equinox and then when she is all excited you could just quietly mumble, " and yeah, I got a Camaro too"

Not sure if "real world" would be 3 mpg. You are hauling around an extra 200 pounds of hardware and on the highway aero is probably more important than mass. City you might notice and I think that is more mass dependant.

Not scientific at all, but I didn't notice that much difference in FWD and AWD 4 bangers. But I never ran a tank out of one to really check.
