US carmakers COULD export if they really tried to show Europe some decent cars.

But hell, screw these whiny Europeans, let's just give them the shittiest cars from our offer (korean GM/Daewoo "Chevrolets" like Lacetti, Aveo etc.), keep the really good and inspiring ones US-exclusive (Mustang, Camaro, Challenger) and then whine about Europeans choosing only between european and japanese cars.

Yes built by CTS to Toyotas specifications. CTS provides electronic pedal modules to other manufacturers and there don't seem to be any reports of problems with them.

http://www.ctscorp.com/automotive/pedal/modules.htm

They are headquartered in Elkhart IN, but the modules are built in Canada.

Press release:
http://www.ctscorp.com/publications/...s/nr100127.htm

"As Toyota stated, this recall is different from and unrelated to the “sudden, unintended acceleration issue” which was the subject of the November 2009 Toyota recall. In the November recall, the pedals in Toyota models dated back to model year 2002. CTS became a pedal supplier in 2005. Accordingly, our products are not implicated by the November 2009 recall. The products we supply to Toyota, including the pedals covered by the recent recall, have been manufactured to Toyota’s design specifications."

437,000 toyota hybrids recalled, Prius, HS250h, and Sai.

In addition, 7300 Camrys recalled due to potentially leaking brake tubes.

This is why I feel that we need to strongly reiterate to our representatives that they are public SERVANTS. Too many think of their positions as an opportunity to make money or fame for themselves, when they are supposed to be focused on SERVING us. I have some ideas on how to fix that issue.... but again.... may be too political (this post is kinda pushing it anyway).

Found this site where they take apart the pedal assembly made by the two different suppliers. I myself have always felt that the real issue is with the computer and NOT the pedal. They have video of an Avalon running at full throttle while someone physically moves the pedal from the fully depressed to fully released and it has absolutely no effect. Of course a re-flash of the comuter is part of the recall in the cars that will get their pedal modules replaced. First they tried to blame floor mats. That didn't work so now they're trying to blame the pedal modules. It seems they a reluctant to admit that cars programming is really to blame IMO.

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/exc...ta-gas-pedals/

At the end:

"The overriding question is if these pedals are really the predominant or sole cause in any true (non-floor-mat caused) unintended acceleration, or whether electronics are the real 800 lb gremlin in this whole affair. Toyota has not acknowledged that…yet."

CORRECTION, I was incorrect there isn't a video of the Avalon and pedal movement not affecting it running at WOT, just an article:

Here are a couple of very interesting videos. In the first he attempts to get a floormat to make the pedal stick and goes on the explain and show the drive-by-wire technology on the Toyota. In the second he takes a pedal assembly and submerges it in freezing water (Toyota claims it can be a condesation moisture issue). He also bakes it in the oven. He is unbale to produce any instance where the assembly sticks.

All parts that have been supplied need to be evaluated by the automaker. CTS is only responsible if they deviated from the specs, but even if they did, Toyota should have picked up on it. No matter what, it comes back to being Toyota's fault.

You may want to google "toyota japanese subsidies" .

http://forums.motortrend.com/70/6422...y-v/index.html

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/its...d-bank-for-2b/
Toyota asked for $2Billion in subsidies from the Japanese government.
(They were denied by the way, but references subsidies they've recieved in the past)

http://blogs.automotive.com/6406013/...nda/index.html
" Let’s not forget how much assistance the Japanese government has given its automakers when times were good. Subsidies for the development of new technologies and currency manipulation to help profitability and sales. So, the latest reports may sound as if Japan is the party pooper as far as bailing out automakers is concerned, but truth is they already did it."

http://www.cbc.ca/money/story/2008/0...ota-prius.html
Toyota denies it got secret subsidy to develop hybrid Prius
(of course they denied it as it would violate world trade agreements)

If you do a little searching you'll find that Toyota has recieved government money for decades, as early as 1949.

"Toyota started out as a manufacturer of textile machinery (Toyoda Automatic Loom) and moved into car production in 1933. The Japanese government kicked out General Motors and Ford in 1939 and bailed out Toyota with money from the central bank (Bank of Japan) in 1949."

Truth is they've been playing with a stacked deck against our manufacturers since the beginning.

Our current debt is over $12 TRILLION dollars and China owns a lot of it.

First and foremost that 12trillion of debt cant rarely be accounted for. When they print money that equals debt. That money will never be paid back, its worthless to be called debt. WE OWN CHINA, without our industries producing in China, what would their economy be like? It would be nothing.

Darn, I had deleted that post as I feared it was too political and tend to steer the thread in that direction.
