It's just info fellas, preference and bias wont change it for you or for me. What we know about the 2011 Mustang GT says were getting a 5.0L DOHC V8 making at least 400hp and 360lb-ft of torque in a car which weighs ~100lb more than the current model, likely even a bit less than that. This is not a guess, it is a brief listing of what we will get as a worst case scenario for the 2011 Mustang GT. If I were to go beyond what I absolutely know and into what I expect....look for 425hp, at least 375lb-ft of torque and a real world curb weight starting extremely close to 3600lb. Gospel? No. Likely? More than a little.

In the end I expect the Mustang GT and Camaro SS to be too close to call on hp, with the Ford carrying a noticeable weight advantage and the Chevy holding a noticeable advantage in torque. Who will be faster? That is difficult to say. Assuming traction isn't an issue for the Chevy my guess is that this is going to be d*** close. We wont know until they throw down on the track.

Like I said, you can believe it or not...but that wont change what is coming.

based off the 4.6, not 5.4; to answer your question further the 5.4 may no longer be an iron block

The 4.6L DOHC V8 used in every SVT Cobra built from 1996 until the cast iron fotified Terminator debuted in 2003 used a cast aluminum, siamese bore engine block. The Mustang GT has made use of a cast aluminum, siamese bore engine block since the S197 debuted for 2005.

OHC is what ford and imports put on to make themselves feel superior when they cant make horspower.

Chevy does just fine with pushrods, but I think 400+hp from a 5.0L is plenty impressive and a fine display of Ford's ability to make hp.
