I fail to see how the ending was fake... Ever heard of Custer and the Battle of Little Bighorn? No matter how advanced your technology is, if you do something stupid (e.g., fly into a place the opposing force knows well and hampers your technological edge oooor not properly scouting the opposing force), you will lose.

The only real question remaining is: after the defeat of the corporate forces on Pandora, would the humans send a much larger and stronger attack force back to flatten then planet? Sadly I could totally see this happening, and there wouldn't be much they could do against it.

It could happen. Cameron intends for this to be a trilogy.

What is the possible thought process going through these people's minds?

That was my thought. I kind of figure if "unobtanioum (an old engineering term for a solution using expensive of physics defying materials, LOL)" is running 20 mil or whatever for a hunk the size of a golf ball, somebody is going to get the idea to just blow up the whole moon and then float through space to pick up the pieces. However, that would probably make a less than interesting sequel and most assuredly not result in peole wanting to kill themselves.

At least our air is still breathable! I would like some of those plants that light up in the dark for the yard.

This is just a wild guess, but I think that the gravity from the gas giant combined with the flux field thingy has something to do with it. My thinking is that the flux field somehow weakens gravity in the area it affects, so the weakened gravity in the area combined with the pull from the gas giant could be enough to levitate chunks of land Everything is science fiction at one point or another, till it gets discovered or invented

either that or the island that are floating consist of some odd magnetic style stuff that repulses it from the planet, but just enough so it effectively hovers (relative to its size).

wow, people never cease to amaze me. Obviously everyone that is obsessed with/wanting to kill themselves over avatar have other underyling problems. I'm sure there was a group like this when star wars came out... we just didn't have an internet forum for it. Pandora is like Australia on acid haha beautiful place until a 50 ft hammer head rinocerous tramples the shit out of you.

I think the message of the movie was bang on. They should have just ended it when they blew up "home-tree" though. Would have been more realistic. or mabye after they blew up the tree and started mining their land, we could have set up sections of land for them to live on and given them tax benefits and government money to live so they'll never have to work.... and then 150 years down the road we can be racist and resentful of them for exploiting the system and being "lazy"

that would have been like a documentary.

I dont understand the whole fuss about the movie being anti american though. ya the army seems to be mostly white people with american accents (i think the lead dude in the wheelchair is actually australian but anyway) It's not just the states that does stuff like this. If your from another country, don't kid yourself, yours is the same. The only difference between the US and other countries is the US has the means to carry out their plans, everyone else just has the plans.

No kidding. I'll be the first to acknowledge that the US got to where it is by lying, stealing, and cheating its way across the continent. We kicked out the British, the French, the Indians, and the Spanish/Mexicans. Just gotta read the history books to understand that. But ya know what? Every other country did the same thing, one way or another. They just did it a lot longer ago.
