New guy here wanted to say hey to all. I just registered this morning. I have been checking and reading all the new posts daily for several months and wanted to join in. I enjoy reading the threads of everyone especially those that really know their muscle cars, particularly the Camaro. I really like reading the trash talk too when comparing the Camaro with the competition. My comment: I suppose that since the 2010 factory Camaro has proven to have no equal in its class it must go outside its class to satisfy competitors. And, per cost basis, it even stands pretty tall doing that too. You see, to me, Shelby is after-market. When you talk Shelby, then you gotta talk Hennessey or Yenko, etc. Every time I see video, or read, about the comparisons, I am convinced even more that the 2010 King is the Camaro. I understand drivers are critical and many factors are involved. I was very impressed when the Hennessey Camaro HPE650(1) beat the Shelby Supersnake(2) and the Challenger(3) during an after-market track test (pricing won again too). I like all these American made cars, but love my Camaro.

You're right I didn't and don't plan to read more into anything until it's "official". That said, I went and looked at the z/28 'facts' thread and came across the second post here. Again while not official, says that there is a possibility of having the LSA engine with 550+ hp. Should this hold true, that is SLIGHTLY higher than the LS3 engine, thus making it the top performance option.

Chevy doesn't make the car yet that will compete with the GT500 in stock forum. I really hope they do then I will trade my SS in on one.
Sure they do...it's called a Corvette.

Mustangs hate Big Cats. There Found On the Road Dead because the Big Cats eat them alive. Just playing, I love all the muscle cars, the stangs, the chargers, the challengers, the vettes , the 442's , the nova's, the TA's but most of all the camaro's. I have always wanted one since my high school days. Finally have one. I also have a charger ( It's the family car ). Its all in good fun. But for price, styling, and performance gotta love the camaro over the rest anyway.

I know, but I couldn't help but throw that out there since the GT500 id close to the same price range as some of the Corvettes. The GT40 is in a WHOLE different category pricewise

My sister-in-law has a newer Mustang Cobra and she is IN LOVE with my SS. See went for a ride and admits that my car IS FASTER than hers and that if she didn't still owe on hers (which she paid a lot more for than I did mine) she would by a Camaro. I am a CHEVY man but do believe that if everyone liked just one brand of car, things would get boring!!! Plus, with all the performance cars out there it will help keep the high performance alive.

Umm what newer Mustang Cobra would that be ? Because the only newer "Cobra" is 6 years old now, and that was the 03/04 Cobra's, or Terminators. The new GT500 is not a Cobra, and the whole GT500 vs a SS have been beaten to death. Everyone knows...well rather who are knowledgeable about cars knows a GT500 is faster than a SS.

Even with that, I would say a 03/04 Terminator is right there with a 2010 Camaro performance wise easily. So....not sure what your sister in law is driving.....but somehow I do not think its a TRUE cobra or a GT500...

As of right now, the Terminator is ever so slightly faster by two tenths I believe. I personally expect the SS to match that or even beat it by the end of the next track season.

Still won't beat the Terminator because you won't find many Terminator Cobras running around in stock form plus you're talking about a 7 yr old car versus one that's not even out yet.

It seems the 2010 has the potential to reach the same 1/4 mile standing as the Terminator. Your first statement is irrelevant considering there are modified 5th Gens running around the streets right now.

Well it's not irrelevant because you never mentioned anything about the Camaro being stock or not. Anyway, I love the new Camaros and think they are great looking cars but be careful with some of those Terminators as I have a car producing nearly 500 hp at the fly wheel and was pulled by one by about a car before I finally reeled him in. All he claimed to have done was added a smaller s/c pulley and installed 410's. Don't take things so personally man, it's just a civil discussion going on here and nothing else.

Lol I'm not taking it personally. Just saying that the Terminator isn't far off at all now, and that car has had 7 years like you said to reach that 12.4 time. I'm not doubting the Terminators aftermarket capabilities at all, considering it's already factory supercharged and a simple turn up of the boost would make it run with the current GT500. And the stock comment was definitely implied, considering I was talking about two stock times then mentioned a modified Camaro separate from the rest of the thought.

UUmm, sorry but I still don't see where you made mention of a "stock" Camaro. You just said by the end of next track season but now I know. I was saying that the 02 and 03 Terminator Cobras are 7 yr old cars. It's a well known fact that Ford has, for the most part, always been the replacement for displacement and you'd have to mod these little pony's in order to run with Z28's and now the SS. Same goes for the current GT500 in regards to adding more boost, easy to do and you'll be beating stock Z06's all day. Personally I prefer the older cars, even Mustangs, because of the simplicity and very large selection of perf mods and power adders that are available. It's also much cheaper to mod an older street car than a newer one that you'd be making payments on.
