That car has a ton to offer for just over 40k. Or is this referring to the 300 hp genesis coupe? The one that is to compete with the camaro and mustang?

The Genesis (if you are speaking of the luxury sedan) is so sweet. It is very copy cat in design but for the price there is no car on the luxury market that offers as much for the price.
it is, becuase it is actually more aimed at the 5 series not the 7, and people with 40k sitting around are gonna get an acura, Audi, Bmw 3 series, or a cadillac before they spend that on a hyundai

I don't know about that. This genesis is a hell of a lot more car then a TL, A4, 3 series, and CTS for the same price.

For what it offers it is way underpriced compared to its cometition. You can get this car for less then a new Acura TL nevermind the RL. You aren't playing fair with your comparison. Maybe if YOU had 40k you would get a 3 series but if you wanted the most car for your $ this blows the doors off anything out there. It is getting outside the idea that its a "hyundai" that you and others will have trouble with. Other then that it is one of the best bargains on the market. If they had badged it a new name brand people wouldn't think twice. Like Scion is toyota but these retarded ricer wanna be's think they are hip and cool and young b/c it is a scion, its still a toyota corolla lol.

but you are also getting name and known quality. who wants to say hey i spent 40k on a hyundai, im not saying they are nice but they did a crappy job of developing thier brand. you dont make sub 20k cars for years and make one that is twice the cost and then expect to not have people question its quality and engineering. they should have moved higher int the $30k range and developed upwards. not build cars in the min and max and then fill in the center of the line up later

No doubt. I had a customer that just bought a Hyundai Azerra. It's kinda like a fancy Accord I guess...anyway, it's "upmarket" design isn't quite all it's cracked up to be. The inside door handles are cheap looking chrome plastic that still had "flashing" around the mold edge. CHEAP! Now....is someone that has BMW tastes and BMW type cash going to plunk down that $$$$$ on a freakin' Hyundai? I highly doubt it. As far as the poll goes, I voted G8. Lots of car for the money, and great fit and finish. (better than a Hyundai for cryin out loud!) If the Genesis wins the COTY, it just means they paid the magazine more in "advertising money".

But that is the thing, the quality and materials in this car is far from crap now. Yes the name brand is going to be their biggest hurdle but the Genesis is an amazing car. Have you seen / been in one? If not then you are basing this off nothing but opinion. The sonata is also a terrific car in the mid/high 20's and sells like hotcakes.

No the BMW snobs will never buy this car but that isn't the target market for this car. They are looking for those that are smart buyers and want the most for their money and are willing to step up into the luxury market for the price of a mid level sedan. There are a heck of a lot more of them then BMW snobs. Unless you have been in one you wouldn't understand how nice this car it.

ads suggested the Genesis offers "7-series size, 5 series performance, 3-series price."

Never said it wasn't nice, my cousin has one (V6) and she let me take it for a spin. I'd take one if it were given to me. But its not something that I would consider buying.

Although there is a recent unpopularity with the new GT-R I would pick that, and the G8...anyways the Camaro is going to win next year so..

Hmm. Personal preference aside, this is supposed to be about the most significant new car. Given that, I think the two obvious choices here are the 1 Series and the Genesis. Coin toss between the two IMHO.

I voted G8 because its what I would've bought if the Camaro wasn't coming out.
