You can flush it remotely with your iPhone or iPod using Bluetooth. There's an app for that.

I would've much rather seen Apple put resources into building a literal netbook, something smaller than a 13.3 inch MacBook or even just taking this tablet concept and incorporating OS X into it. This is, like many have said, just a supersized version of the iPod touch sitting on my desk for twice as much.

My laptop has a much bigger screen, I don't have to get it dirty and I can set the angle of it independent of the angle of my legs.
I can't fit something like that in my pocket, media players and smart phones are smaller yet can have as much memory, laptops are better computers (with MUCH more memory), and e-book readers are cheaper.

Perhaps I'm missing something, I'm pretty much a ludite when it comes to high-tech toys. I can't understand the popularity of Apple. Where can I find the koolaid so I can have a glimpse of the genius behind expensive products with limited capabilities?

Apple computers are way better than any PC imo. No viruses is one of the best things. And I am a graphic designer so a mac is the only way to go, not to mention macs look awesome.

Honestly, I don't remember the last time I had a virus with a PC, though I do use freeware like Spybot and AdAware quite frequently to keep my PC in good condition (at least from spyware), and use Firefox rather than IE. Its reminiscent of Toyota quality vs Domestic garbage, in my opinion. So long as you want to believe it, its true. Maybe mac's are a bit more inherently safe. But mostly it comes down to the fact that virus makers attack what is most popular, because it causes the most damage and fills that little void in their life that they can't find else where while in their parents basement at 4:00am. And as long as I don't go to animalorgy.com (I sure hope thats not a real website), download a 'free PC virus scan' (read 'free PC virus'), open up that 'cheap meds' email (I'm in Canada, meds are already cheap), or the link that someone who I haven't talked to in 3 years sent (was always suspicious of Bob anyway), I think I will be fairly safe. If not, there's numerous anti-virus software's out there for under $40.

Graphical capabilities, I'll concede. They are better at that. Style? A plastic box with a screen is a plastic box with a screen as far as I'm concerned. Colours and large radius beveled corners/edges don't impress me that much.

iHate

I can imagine all the smug douchebags at cafes being all douchy flipping their e-pages of snooty glory. This thing will bring more water and vinegar to the party for sure. Its just a big iPhone.

this thing had potential, but they missed the mark on a lot of key things. i see tablets as a merger between laptop and netbooks, and if thats the case, without flash support for the internet, ive got no use for it

Without the image in the post, this sentence is so wrong. Sounds like you're bragging...

I just have an issue with the name...

They've got the Imac...okay. They've got the Iphone...cool.
But they have an IPOD...and they name this thing the IPAD?!

Really?

It's actually cider.....

And I would tend to agree with you. I like Apple products (I use Itunes, and almost bought the phone), but the fanbase absolutely infuriates me. For example, stop making a distinction between the "Apple" and the "PC". THEY'RE BOTH PERSONAL COMPUTERS with largely the same innards, 'cept one will cost you $500 more for the fruit logo.

Sorry for yelling...

everyone hates apple. how do you guys know what more they could have done did you design it? how do you know what kind of software it will have. Everyone wants this everyone wants that but you still want it for 200 bucks. Why do oyou think they used an led instead of an oled. Maybe so they can sll it for 500 dollars. I cant wait to pick one up.

Not true. The cider drinkers love Apple.
