Why do Mustang owners have so much hate towards Camaro owners?

i own a mustang but i would love to have a new SS or Chally...but keep my mustang haha...most guys that do all of that smack talk shouldnt be allowed to own the car they are in...if you ask me when they didnt make the camaro those where some bad years and now everything is back to normal

I like all cars brand does not matter . The ford vs chevy thing will go on forever no changing that some people care about it more than others thats all . I must say and hate to admit but most people who owns a 2010 camaro think there car is better than all from what i'm seeing .

Its just a rivalry between the makes, that goes back to the beggining of time. Competetion is good and it forces the manufacturers to devolp new new things to keep our intrest. The hp battle will continue forever,or at least till we dont have gas. Then it will be who cam make the best armiture, and strongest magnets..Im not so much Ford,GM,Dodge, as I own a Mustang GT, Challenger SRT8 and Cammaro SS/RS. Im more AMERICAN made. ... as many folks have mentioned, a lot of it goes back to the days of being "a Ford guy" or "a Chevy guy". I drive a Mustang and I'm in the process of ordering a Camaro... so, add me to the same list as Adam... I'm just an "American" car person.

Ford vs Chevy...on the track and street...pros and regular Joes...never gonna die.

I have always loved Mustangs but I have never owned one (but as of last night, I started looking for a 91-93 Mustang LX 5.0)...

I owned five 3rd Gen Camaros including a pair of 5.7 Iroc Zs but the 5.0's always got the better of them. The 4th gen SS were killing the Mustang GTs but the 4th gen look never grew on me so I skipped all those years and waited and waited til now but not before I nearly bought a GT500...just days before I placed the order for my SS. But I knew the stock SS was not gonna be enough, not after test driving a GT500, Roush Stage 3, PJ Edition Mustang, and rumor that 2011 Mustang GTs will have the 400hp+ Coyote engine...SS got fixed up that with a Maggie for now.
Most guys in Mustangs give me the "look" but there are few that give thumbs up as well.
Soon I will have my project 5.0 and my lic frame on the Camaro will read "I would rather be driving my Mustang"
and on the Mustang " I would rather be driving my Camaro"

And the Mustang sure wasn't playing catch up between 2003 to 2009.

It came out first and was the only one in the game, but see 1966 and 2009. They run the same car with the same numbers on different badges (that cost more aka a Bullitt in 02 or 05), get comfortable and something new comes along. They have to play catch up with that rather then advancing the line. I mean even Honda will up the HP in the civic from year to year yet Ford will just run the same model over and over and over and over. The SN95 V6, like my 2002, got NO performance upgrades its entire run from 99 to 04. Just new spoilers, hoods, and pony packages that cost too damn much.

Because Camaro owners have time and time again greatly exaggerated the stretch of difference between the two vehicles. They know the Camaro is better, but the Mustang is by no means a piece of garbage.

So one or two people refer to it as trash and then they assume all Camaro people hate the Mustang. Unfair assumption...

I love the Camaro, but for a few reasons I will not get into, I am buying a Torch Red Mustang GT 401A on Saturday. No track pack. And I'll be the first to say the Camaro is a superior car. I probably can't even out-handle a Camaro without a track pack. Darn.

Stop being a fanboi. Some years the Camaro is better (like the 4th Gens), and some years it comes in 2nd (the 3rd Gens). Right now the 5th Gens are faster, but Ford is upping the ante in 2011.

I've been a chevy guy my whole life and I would never buy anything but a GM product, but that said I love all American muscle cars, my grandfather is a die hard mustang guy and im a die hard Camaro guy and we tease each other but we both love each others cars and build them up together.

I do not like import cars, no style in MY OPINION.

I have respect for rwd cars from the imports like the skyline and the supra but I find them to not be very attractive at all, and bland, but regardless, you can say oh well its twin turbo made like 400 wheel horsepower and I beat this muscle car yada yada blah blah, but when it comes down to it, forced induction rwd v8 vs forced induction rwd v6 in the same car both tuned properly and similar weight, the 8's going to win, mainly because there is no replacement for displacement.

That said most import tuner guys are very ignorant towards muscle cars where I live, although im never rude to them, I just laugh and be on my way.

Either way mustang camaro and challenger are all gorgeous cars and im glad to see them all on the street again!

Well said and couldn't agree more. To the original poster, Mustangs have been around longer, but the F-bodies generally outperformed them. The Mustangs were more user friendly by being able to get into and out of them easier and you set in them more like a conventional car instead of crawling in and out.
