All the GT500 engines are hand-built by SVT versus being produced on the factory assembly line. The builder's/assembler's names are noted on that tag and tell you who, exactly, built your motor. GM LS7 engines are also hand-built.

Now, I understand that you want me to say that the GT500 is "in a class by itself" but that is not going to happen. Because it is not. Whether you agree or not, the SRT8 is certainly in the same "class" as the GT500.
funny how you think you know what I "want"

I was just wondering what other car you would cross shop it with since it's not the Corvette. Obviously the SRT8 is the higher tier of the Mopars and should be comparable although performance numbers say otherwise. The Camaro has nothing to compare the GT500 with. It would have been a simple answer but you make things so complicated.

I don't know, maybe because you posted the same statement twice in two different posts? Sorry if I read you wrong.

Very nice! Now as a recent 2010 buyer are you upset with the changes for 2011? I'm assuming since you bought a 2010 they didn't mean that much to you.

So a buddy of mine who used to be a big fan of Ford (but now reffers to them as Found On Road Dead) just got rid of his new GT500.

Apparently the thing was so rusted through that it was causing some severe problems underneath.

On top of that, (and you can't make this shit up) he was sitting at a red light and the glass window in the back of the car fell out nto the backseats. wtf??

So anyways, he's buying a Corvette and being done with it.

If anyone cares..Ford released 2011 GT500 pricing today....

'11 GT500 Coupe (including Destination & Delivery) MSRP = $49,495.
'11 GT500 Convertible (including Destination & Delivery) MSRP = $54,495.

Optional equipment....

$2,340 = Electronics Package
$3,495 = SVT Performance Package
$1,295 = Shaker 1000 Audio System
$1,995 = Glass Roof
$ 375 = Shelby Car Cover

Basically a $3k MSRP jump over the 2010 one. Now the GT500 starts at $50k instead of $46k.

How would the rear window fall in when their's a lip that it lays on?
Brand new one, 2010... maybe 3 months old.

I have no idea how it fell in, I never saw it in person...heard all about it though and the dealership was at a loss as well

50k is steep for a Mustang

Those prices are getting too close to a new CTS-V. A car that has four doors, about the same size tire, about the same horsepower, weighs about 200lbs more than a GT500 but can clean the GT500 up at the dragstrip. I truly wish Mustangs weren't such nose heavy pigs, because I feel that they do have a bad ass attitude/look to them. And this new track pack for the GT500 looks like a road course pack, not a drag pack which it desperately needs.

Less than 10k miles, Florida. Apparently the rust was bad when he got the car.

Purrty car there. But wasn't there a thread on here around back complaining about new GT500s having horrible rust on the rear axles?

Just because it's a GT500 doesn't mean there won't be one car with severe problems. I'm sure there is a Camaro out there that had something just as bad happen to it.
