So whats the big hang-up?
Your first statement is nothing more than Chevrolet trying to create the better vehicle. I'm more concerned with an American company's $15,000 less non-direct competitor besting it in a road course. However, I would side with Wikipedia in this case in saying the Challenger was a pony car. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscle_car

Ah, well in that case ... I can't rationalize why a pony car should do so poorly.

Sports Car. Sports Car. Sports Car....imo.

The real "muscle cars" are long gone. We call them this name purely in homage of past vehicles.

For instance, the DB9 is not a muscle car by popular definition, and the Camaro shares a very similar formula (minus lots of leather)...so....my .02

Then if it's a sports car/pony car, then it should be doing better in the corners is all I'm saying.

I admit that the Challenger is a very nice looking vehicle. Its price just doesn't back up the performance for the most part. SAYING this, I would have a Challenger before even the new GT because performance isn't my absolute number one priority.

I'm going for the mustang next just because I think the challenger will come down in price more in another year and I also want yellow in the challenger. Who cares if it doesn't handle the best It's a sweet ride.
it is a sweet ride. i would definitely own a challenger before a mustang too, but the new stangs are pretty awesome lol they do need to knock down the price for the challenger though.

That makes no sense to me. You already own a vehicle, bailing on them now will only make their situation worse. And getting out early will probably cost you more than sticking around until they do fail, that is if they fail, which isn't a guarantee.

Makes perfect sense to me and have no forsaken idea what you are referring to.

Dodge goes tits up and where you think my warranty goes? Someone will have to purchase that work 3rd party and parts will be almost impossible to get.

As it stands the CSRT parts are very rare and it is a 2 year production run car. When I bought it I did not anticipate Chrysler to be in the pickle they are today.

I purchased the car for $7K under MSRP new and will take a small hit when I get rid of it as it stands.

I will get rid of it while it has some value left and move into something that has a life thanks.

Do what you've gotta do I guess.

I have always seen the Challenger as the one I want to go cross country in or drive everday. It is a tourer, a top speed autobahn type car. Because it has differrent strengths in other areas, doesn't mean it's less of a car. Yes the Camaro and Mustang are better track performers, but a Challenger is like Harley, it's not about racing it, it's about enjoying it and being seen in it. I don't personally look at a motor trend and say "damn that car only ran a 13.1 in the quarter mile and only pulled .88G on the skidbuy, no way I'd buy it!" I go drive the cars and get what I like, what my heart tells me "I" am gonna like. Really, how many buyers even pick up a car magazine these days?

I hear you, Stew. We bought the SS, but to be honest on the street I RARELY open it up....so the performance advantage vis a vis the Challenger is mostly moot.

Folks, buy what you like, and what floats your boat.

Not sure if they'll survive. They're line-up has become quite stagnant while GM and Ford have released and are about to release some really nice new vehicles. Chrysler's first move should be to axe that ugly Caliber
